Google announced a small, but handy change in Gmail, at least for the desktop version. Gmail users will now actually be able to stream video attachments.
Previously, you would have to download a video attachment and then watch it. But now, you can stream the video straight from the page.
You’ll still, of course, be able to download the video attachment, but for the sake of convenience, clicking on the video attachment will open up a YouTube-style video player and, well, stream the video. You have all the same controls as on YouTube — quality adjustment, sound adjustment, the ability to replay and so on.
You can even choose to stream the video to your Chromecast, too.
Google says the feature is available to everyone, but could take up to 15 days for everyone to see it.
