Google is making progress towards an Android One release, and should have the initiative ready by September. Android One is supposed to be capable of offering the most recent, powerful software experience to low-end specced phones.

As far as low-end specs go, expect a 5 MP camera, 1700 mAh battery, 1 GB RAM, and a Snapdragon 400-ish processor. These phones, while not awful should effectively take the developing  market from Google's competition, and possibly be the impetus for consumers to switch from basic phones to smartphones in less privileged nations. If you're wondering what price these devices will be sold at, it seems as though they will span from $115 to $165, which is well below the popular Moto G.

It has been said that the Android One devices will be upgraded from Kitkat to Android L in October, which would mean that we can expect the new OS release to come that month.
