Android Market Upgrades Coming Soon

Screenshots showing a new interface for the Android Market have surfaced online this week. The images have been taken by an anonymous user with access to the upcoming Motorola Sholes Android phone.

As you can see from the images, the Android Market user interface has had a re-design with additional category buttons included for sorting applications by Top paid, Top free, and release date.

According to the tipster, this new version of the Android Market will be available in the upcoming Donut build of Android. But as the Motorola Sholes is expected to ship with Eclair, it is likely we’ll see the Market update hit other Android phones before the launch of Sholes (due in October).

Hopefully we’ll learn more about these upgrades on September 10th at Motorola’s Android event.
