It has been a little while since we heard on the whole “Skype doesn’t work on Fring” debacle, wherein there was some bad blood between the two VoIP providers. There was a public back and forth with a lot of finger pointing and name calling, but it looks like Fring has taken the next step forward, and become a direct competitor to the IP telephony giant.
In the aptly-named move dubbed “FringOut”, Fring is now offering what appears to be cheaper-than-Skype calls to non-Fring users, such as mobile devices and landlines. The new service will appear first on Nokia’s S60 platform, and is “coming soon” to Android and iOS devices. The new service costs as low as a penny per minute. While this sounds like a great deal, we would love to hear from those who use the service and let us know the quality!
