Android. It can Multitask, right? So, why not have multitasking abilities during your phone call that are really useful?

That is exactly what the new app, TalkNotes for Android, aims to do. It allows you to take notes on your Android device while in a phone call, but takes it up a notch from standard note-taking. The app attaches your notes to your call logs, and lets you attach information like company, name, information, and a ton of other stuff. Also noted by the company’s website is the fact that they tried to develop this app for the iOS and Blackberry platforms, but found their lack of multitasking capabilities constraining.

DULUTH, Ga., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ — Android smartphone users in both the professional and personal spheres have a new tool for capturing and putting vital information at their fingertips. MobileAppTek (http://www.mobileapptek.com) has released its latest innovation, TalkNotes, an application that allows users to enter texts and related data, as well as review stored data, while calls are in progress. Follow-up appointments can be entered and reflected immediately in the Google Calendar, which can synchronize with the corporate Exchange-based calendar.

TalkNotes capitalizes on Android’s unique multi-tasking environment to combine calling, note-taking, searching for information and appointment scheduling. Notes with associated information, like subject, telephone number, contact, company, matter, time and duration, are stored in a relational database, which includes a search and filter feature to extract needed information.

“The initial targets for TalkNotes were BlackBerry and iPhone OS platforms; however, the multiple concurrent activities posed challenges initially. We are hoping to provide for these platforms using the newer releases of their OS,” says Mo Bolarinwa, marketing director for MobileAppTek. “Android, however, is a natural fit for TalkNotes because it enables seamless multi-tasking. This is crucial for an application that enables you to take notes, store and retrieve records, schedule appointments and more, simultaneously, all while talking on your smartphone.”

The application goes beyond capturing notes related to calls; any information users require may be captured and organized accordingly. With TalkNotes, there’s no need to scramble to find a pen and paper to record important information, and the smartphone speech-to-text feature allows entry of well-organized information by dictation.

TalkNotes also complements the built-in applications and enhances the experience of using Android-based phones. In addition to the ability to take notes while on calls, TalkNotes allows attachment of notes and associated information to Call Log entries. This enables such associations after the phone call has ended. The Call Log interface provided is more concise than the built-in app, showing precise time of call and duration and allowing filtering as well as archiving and export into Excel spreadsheets.

The contact information in the Notes database may be used to manage temporary contacts, without cluttering the main contact list, while also providing more searchable information by date range of last contact, company, subject, etc.

MobileAppTek has been offering free trial downloads of TalkNotes since its soft launch and has received over 2,000 downloads during the first month. The response has been overwhelming, with feedback that demonstrates that TalkNotes is an essential application for professionals who interact with their customers over the phone. In response, MobileAppTek is providing free download for an extended period of time, which is available in the Android Market.

    I’m so grateful for.this app.

After recently changing from a Blackberry on which I used call log notes, I was very worried that.I would not find a similar function on the Droid.

It looks amazing, and I’m looking forward to downloading it and putting it to good use.

    Thank you in advance.
