Streak Froyo

Despite all of the Streak’s impressive qualities, Dell has had a cloud looming over its head since deciding to launch it in the US with Android 1.6.  People have been speculating since day one as to when the device would be receiving an update to 2.1.  Well, it seems Dell may have decided to bypass 2.1 altogether and jump straight to Froyo.  Lionel Menchaca, a Dell employee, tweeted the following in response to a question about an update:

Honest answer is that it’s complicated. From the info I have, current plan in the US is to go right to Froyo.

There has been no official word from Dell or AT&T to verify this statement, so don’t get too excited just yet.  Streak owners should at least take comfort in the fact that an update is looming, but perhaps now it’s just a question of whether you will be getting an Eclair or some Froyo.
