Samsung is the king of offering a lot of different features on their phones, and the Galaxy Note 3 is no exception. Action Memo is similar to S Memo, but it's meant for quick notes that you can take action on now or later. To start an Action Memo, just hover your S Pen over the screen and press the button. The Air Command fan will appear. Just tap on the first option, Action Memo.

You can now write whatever you want in the memo such as a phone number, email address, or street address. Just tap on the “Link To Action” button at the top and it will highlight what you wrote. You will then be given an opportunity to make a phone call, add a new contact, send a text, send an email, search the Web, open Maps, or add items to a todo list. Just choose the appropriate action. You can even save your Action Memos to use later by tapping on the checkmark at the top right. To open previously saved Action Memos, just open the Action Memo app from your app drawer.

    1. Yes! With a lot of frustration. I’m wondering if the new pen support in Evernote does the same thing. Evernote comes bundled with the GN3.

    2. The only problem that I have with the app is if you need to reload your phone from default all your memos are lost. This is why I went back to using Google Keep for my notes. I never loose notes on Google Keep.

  1. I created a memo on my android s3, accidentally cleared background data, and it was lost (it doesn’t save automatically??) I need that data I wrote all day…is there any way to retrieve it?

  2. My action memos are disapearing. Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It has happened a couple of times now. Any ideas?

  3. Rob, this was a very helpful video. Initially I couldn’t retrieve my notes. For some reason, my Note 3 didn’t have the action memo icon on any of the screens, so I had to pull a fresh one out of the Samsung folder and plop it on the screen of my choice. Now, I can not only write myself a note, but I can select it later and pull it out of the hat!
    Thanks
