weird gadgets

Maybe you're looking for something fun and exciting, but you're tired of buying cases, portable batteries, or video games. It's easy to spice things up these days, and there's a ton of weird devices and accessories you can buy that'll definitely catch some compliments and questions from your friends.

We've rounded up some of our favorite weird gadgets around the web to make it easy to find something new to play with or to buy a present that you can be 100% positive no one else is going to buy.

GoCube

GoCube

To lead off the list, we've got a Rubik's Cube that'll connect to your phone. Is that weird enough?

Don't let that statement detract from how cool the GoCube actually is. It's a fully functional puzzle game with a retro aesthetic, but being able to connect it to your smartphone opens up quite a bit of functionality. You can use the companion app to help learn to solve a Rubik's Cube (or just solve yours if you get it stuck) but there are a bunch of extra puzzle games you can play with it, too. It's also got some multiplayer if you want to test your GoCube skills against other people around the world.

The GoCube sports some pretty cool looking LED lights and a charging cradle, so if nothing else, it looks really cool on a desk. This one will definitely impress your friends.

Rocketbook Notebook

RocketbookIf you're big into writing, note-taking, or drawing, a smart notebook might be just the thing for you. As weird as it sounds and is, the Rocketbook notebook is actually pretty handy; you're getting a totally reusable notebook that quickly digitizes your work without needing a scanner or any other special equipment. Pretty cool, right?

Rocketbook pairs with most popular cloud services, like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Evernote, and since you can reuse the 36 pages over and over you won't need to keep buying notebooks. It's also pretty cheap at less than $30 which makes this a feasible purchase for all kinds of people, which we always appreciate.

Gameboy Phone Case

Playing games on an emulator on your phone is fun, sure, but what about a dedicated case with its own hardware and buttons to play the games? Hey, we told you these would be weird.

The QKArrow Gameboy case does just that. It's a case for your Galaxy S10 (or iPhone) that can play 36 games on its small screen on the back of your phone. It has dedicated hardware buttons and its own battery, which effectively makes it its own device that just happens to latch onto your phone.

We don't think any of these games are legitimate (and if they are it's definitely just piracy) but it's pretty fun and a novel concept anyway. Just don't let Nintendo catch you.

The World's Smallest Flip Phone

smallest flip phone

What is this, a phone for ants? Actually, yeah, almost. The Long-CZ flip phone is literally the world's smallest flip phone, and it's functional, too. Well, as functional as something this size can be. I don't think I'd be able to read many text messages on this.

At just 72mm long and 18g it's really, really tiny. It does somehow support quite a few bands for connectivity, too, so you really can make phone calls and send texts on this. I can't imagine the battery holds up very well, but take this out at a party and I guarantee you'll be one of the most popular people there.

Don't worry, it's only $30. You can buy this phone without breaking the bank.

Gliston Phone Magnifier

phone magnifier

Struggling to see movies on your smaller phone but don't want to spring for a tablet? You can always pick up the Gliston 12-inch screen magnifier.

We're working with a pretty simple concept here; you've got a curved 12-inch piece of glass that magnifies what's behind it. In this case, that would be your phone, so you'll get an image that's about as large as a small laptop or large tablet. I imagine the magnification could do a number on the clarity of text, but for watching Netflix or even playing games with a Bluetooth controller? For $15, this one actually sounds pretty cool.

Bluetooth Sleep Headphones

Bluetooth sleep headphones

Some people like to sleep with music. I'm one of them, personally, and I think some relaxing sounds and white noise can really help you sleep better.

So let's take that one step further and cram sleep music into a pair of headphones that's also a sleep mask. Weird enough yet?

While this looks like a (mostly) regular sleep mask, it's actually got speakers built in so you can pair it with your phone and listen to something while you try and doze off or nap. And if someone tries to wake you up during your sleep with a phone call? Well, you can answer that call, since these have a microphone built-in, too!

They've got a 9-hour battery life, too, which seems like just the right amount to help you stay asleep all night. If you forget to charge them, though, you're in trouble.
