Fans of a hit series rated 4.2 out of 5 just got a surprise: a secret one-hour special episode—no, it's not “Stranger Things.” Curious about which show pulled this off and how to watch? Here’s what you need to know.

Not the bonus Stranger Things episode fans hoped for

It’s been nearly six months since the “Stranger Things” finale, and some have been hoping for a hidden or surprise episode to appear. According to reports, there is no such bonus or secret episode for the Netflix series—nor is one planned. That particular mystery is settled.

The Bear unexpectedly drops a secret prequel

But streaming still has surprises. Another show has quietly released a bonus episode: “The Bear” surprised viewers with a one-hour special called “Gary,” which was uploaded in secret on Disney+. The series follows Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a chef coping with loss as he takes over his brother Mikey’s (Jon Bernthal) restaurant. His goal is to turn it into a top-tier establishment.

“Gary” is a prequel set before the events of the first season, focusing on Jon Bernthal’s character Mikey and his best friend Richie, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach. This special episode caught fans completely off guard, as it was kept under wraps until its release. Sources also announced that the next season—expected to arrive June 25, 2026—would be the show's final one.

Bonus episode streaming globally

The American platform Hulu excelled in keeping this release a secret. Fans in the U.S. can watch “Gary,” and international viewers aren't left out—the episode is also available on Disney+ in France and other countries. It plays almost like a short feature, promising both comedic chemistry from Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach and some emotional moments. Expect laughs—and possibly some tears—from this surprise prequel.
