While Google is already deep into Android 17 development, Samsung is still polishing its One UI 8.5 rollout for Galaxy phones. It's now 10 betas later, and the update is still not fully stable in most regions.

At least, for older devices. The exceptions are the newer Galaxy S25 and S26 series. Beta 9 dropped in India first, Beta 10 (which is still the same Beta 9 in India) is now live in Korea, Germany, US, and the UK.

Hopefully, this is the last one

As shared by Tech leaker Tarun Vats on X, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series has received its One UI 8.5 Beta 10 update. The update is version ZZDD, built on Android 16, and is about 940MB. Enroll in the One UI Beta program to download and install it. You can also register via Samsung Members app.

Samsung has addressed a handful of annoying bugs in call screen delays, a proximity sensor glitch, green line artifacts in 4K HDR video when using third-party camera apps, Bluetooth crashes, and a multi-touch issue tied to accessibility magnification.

It may have also fixed an AirDrop-related bug where Galaxy users transferred photos to Apple devices, but images were arriving stripped of their EXIF location data. They lost the GPS metadata embedded in the file.

Samsung had acknowledged the problem, and pointed to Quick Share as the likely culprit. SamMobile has confirmed that it's been fixed and the location data is now successfully carried over after installing it.

New AI features have also been bundled into the update, while existing ones have been updated. Although the changelog doesn't specify what they are, SamMobile has identified them as the following:

  • Call Screening: your phone answers calls for you and asks the caller who they are. It also asks why they're calling, and saves a transcript of the whole exchange. It helps in spam or unknown number filtration.
  • Creative Studio: an AI image editor that lets you make edits either by drawing directly on the image or describing what you want via text prompts.
  • Audio Eraser: the tool can now be toggled straight from the Quick Panel.
  • Photo Assist: it has received an expanded set of editing features.

The stable version will hit Galaxy S25 devices in April or May.

Other Galaxy phones are also getting One UI 8.5

Beyond the latest One UI 8.5 rollout, the update  is now reaching beyond the flagships. The third and fourth Betas have now hit the Galaxy S25 FE, S24 and Z Fold 7 phones in Korea and India.

The changelog mirrors the new AI features, incoming call screen fix, proximity sensor error, and other aforementioned fixes presented in the 10th Beta.

As for older devices, eligibility depends mainly on the guaranteed major Android update window. Recent tablets like the Tab S10 and S11 series are included, and select mid-range Galaxy A-series phones like the A55, A56, and A57.

To install the update, back up your data to avoid loss as the build may be unstable. Then go to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install.
