Phones are expensive these days and that isn't surprising considering they carry as much storage, RAM, and processing power as computers, have cameras that can almost rival dedicated ones, and tote high-resolution screens that make watching videos and gaming more enjoyable than ever.
Considering how expensive phones are though, it becomes almost a necessity to protect them, whether with a screen protector or a good case, but even those can only do so much against accidental damage. Plus, they do nothing against theft. If you missed your first chance to get Samsung Care+, the Korean OEM is giving you a second shot to make sure your device is safeguarded.
You Can Usually Only Get Samsung Care+ At The Time Of Purchase, But Here's A Second Chance
Samsung Care+ is Samsung's optional protection service that you can get bundled with your Samsung smartphone at the time that you buy it. Depending on your plan, you can get protection against a cracked screen, mechanical issues, other forms of repair, and even the phone getting lost or stolen, which is pretty awesome.
Typically, you have to get Samsung Care+ when you buy your smartphone, and if you don't, you'll have to live life without this protection service being there for you at the times when you might need it. However, in the United States, and for a small selection of smartphones, you're going to be able to enroll in Samsung Care+ for a limited amount of time.
Samsung is giving customers with a Galaxy S24 smartphone, a Galaxy Z Flip 5, or a Galaxy Z Fold 5, the chance to get their smartphone covered with Samsung Care+, up until June 30th. After that, your phone will likely be locked out of Samsung Care+ for the rest of its life. Personally, I wish I had gotten Samsung Care+ with my smartphone, and if it was being offered in my region, I'd certainly take it.
Here Are The Samsung Care+ Plans And What They Can Protect You Against
Now, to win you over, you'll need to know what makes Samsung Care+ so good in the first place and all the intricacies that come with this protection plan, so I'll explain it the best that I can. Samsung Care+ has four different plans that you can take advantage of: Care+, Care+ Essentials (only applies to computers and earbuds), Theft and Loss Insurance (only available in New York), and Care+ with Theft and Loss.
- Theft And Loss Insurance: You can take advantage of this if you live in New York and it works like regular insurance plans do. Your monthly premium is in a 36-month term and costs $5.50 regardless of device. The deductible you pay if your phone actually gets lost or stolen depends on the “tier” that the device falls under and is anywhere between $99 and $199. You'll be able to get it replaced the same day or on the next business day.
- Care+ Essentials: This only applies to Samsung's laptops and Buds. You pay anywhere from $19 to $89 to cover a 24-month term, depending on the device, and you'll pay nothing in the event of a mechanical breakdown.
- Care+: This plan can be applied to devices like tablets, smartwatches, and earbuds, but we'll focus on the smartphone aspect alone. You can choose to pay anywhere from $3 to $13 monthly on a 36-month term or $49 to $259 to cover a 24-month term. Either way, you'll get to repair a cracked display at a flat rate of $29, free mechanical breakdown repairs, next-business-day replacements when necessary, and unlimited repairs.
- Care+ with Theft and Loss: This is the highest plan offered and it covers everything that the Care+ plan does in addition to the Theft and Loss insurance plan. You'll pay between $8 and $18 monthly for 36 months, or $129 to $349 to cover 24 months. It also has a $99 to $199 deductible in case your device goes missing. This plan is available anywhere in the US.
