Moto G Stylus 5G

Less than a month after launching the Moto G Stylus (2023) that was limited to 4G networking, Motorola has unveiled a 5G variant which packs in added performance, upgraded cameras, a better display and, as you might expect, 5G connectivity. Priced at $399, the Moto G Stylus 5G costs almost double what the 4G model's price, but there are notable improvements.

Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, the Moto G Stylus 5G also benefits from up to 6GB of RAM, 128/256GB of built-in storage and support for MicroSD cards up to 1TB. Visuals also get upgraded with the larger 6.6-inch IPS display sporting a higher resolution of FHD+ and a slick 120Hz refresh rate.

The rear camera setup now has a more capable 50MP sensor along with an 8MP macro lens that pulls double duty as an ultra-wide lens. Even the front-facing camera is better thanks to it sporting a 16MP sensor as opposed to the 8MP snapper on the 4G model.

What about the stylus?

Safely nestled inside the built-in storage slot, the stylus is capable of being used for both work and play thanks to the following tools:

  • Handwriting Recognition Calculation, an AI-driven feature to turn handwriting into a numerical value, making it quicker and easier to do quick math on the go.
  • Lasso Tool for Draw to select, copy and move objects to create social media-ready graphics.
  • Live Message to draw or share animated illustrations across popular messaging apps.
  • Optical Character Recognition to extract text from a written or printed document for easy sharing or record-keeping.

The battery remains at a 5,000mAh capacity but with the addition of 20W fast charging instead of the 15W on the 4G version. Dealbreaker features such as a 3.5mm audio jack and NFC are still included, with the Moto G Stylus 5G running Android 13 out of the box. Speaking of software, the following features are baked in to the Moto G Stylus 5G:

  • Moto Secure: The go-to destination for all vital device security and privacy features.
  • Family Space: A designated “safe space” on one’s phone for kids to learn and play. From there, guardians can set limits on screen time, control accessible apps and create multiple profiles for the whole family.
  • ThinkShield: A security hub that enhances protection at every level and meets the highest standards in protecting consumers from malware, phishing and other threats.
