As the hype-machine builds for the probably January 14th launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series, seems that someone has let a OnePlus 9 5G prototype loose on a snap-happy leaker who has posted a ton of pics covering just about every angle of the phone. One of the first things you’ll see is that the OnePlus 9 5G seems to have taken more than a hint of design inspiration from Samsung, for better or worse.
Another glaring detail is the omission of the OnePlus logo in favor of one that is most likely a badge used on prototypes, which of course means that there are likely to be changes made to the design and hardware in the time leading up to the OnePlus 9 5G’s launch next year.
The following specifications are confirmed in the Settings app:
- Android 11/OxygenOS
- 6.55-inch FHD+ Punch-hole Display (20:9 Aspect Ratio), 120Hz Refresh Rate, HDR
- Snapdragon 888 Processor
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB Storage
- 4,500mAh Battery
The 4MP front and 12MP rear cameras are placeholders, and will likely be at least 48MP and 16MP respectively, according to the same report. For the moment, there are no real surprises revealed other than perhaps the taking of inspiration from Samsung for the rear panel and camera housing.
What do you think of the leaked images and specifications of the OnePlus 9 5G?
