Sony is one of our favorite TV manufacturers simply because they've committed to integrating Android TV into some of the most advanced TV technology in the world. Sony's A9F series is one of their best available models, delivering a stellar OLED display experience with integrated, in-screen speakers.
The A9F has won plenty of awards against other 4K TVs on the market and is compatible with Dolby Vision and regular HDR content. It can also double as a center channel speaker in your surround system so you can seamlessly connect this TV to your other home theater speakers for an excellent experience.
If you can't drop thousands on a new TV, the good news is that there are still plenty of excellent budget options that do offer high resolution 4K displays with Dolby Vision support, and Vizio's options are some of the best on the market. Their E-series TVs deliver crisp high-resolution experiences with high brightness and full array backlighting, which is exactly what you need for killer HDR and Dolby Vision.
As a plus for some potential buyers, these TVs are also available in smaller sizes. As much as most people would like a 65-inch TV in every room, that's not always feasible for budget and space reasons. Smaller TVs do still have a place.
Vizio also heavily utilizes Google's Cast protocol, which means you can set one of these TVs up and sling your media to it without having to fiddle with a remote. That's also great for Google Home users.
A good TV is important, but a stellar sound experience will be what really pushes your experience over the edge. Dolby Atmos is the latest in sound technology from Dolby that allows for sound to appear to come from above the listener, instead of just around. Imaging a helicopter flying overhead in a movie, except it actually sounds like it's above you in your living room.
Dolby Atmos is starting to make its way into soundbars, too, so you won't even need separate, dedicated Atmos speakers to get the effect. LG offers a great option in the SK10Y soundbar that includes a wireless subwoofer and upward firing, built-in speakers for a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos experience. It also sports 4K passthrough via HDMI and integration with Google Home, so it's another great addition to any smart home theater system.
Maybe you want a soundbar, but you don't need all the bells and whistles that some of the higher-end ones offer. Sony offers a companion soundbar in the HT-X9000F that's made for their Bravia line of TVs, delivering a stellar stereo sound with support for virtual 7.1.2 setups. It doesn't actually have those seven speakers around the room, but the soundbar fires off sounds in specific ways and directions to emulate the sound around you without taking up nearly as much space or cash.
It also supports 4K HDR passthrough, including regular HDR and Dolby Vision, so it'll fit perfectly into any home theater setup. It looks especially nice with a Sony TV, too, since they designed both pieces to complement the design of the other. Pretty cool stuff.
