Your friends can now stream to your Chromecast without using your Wi-Fi

Google has just flipped a switch on the server side of its Chromecast mobile application, which now furnishes your family and friends with the ability to easily cast videos to your streaming dongle by way of the new “guest mode” feature. This latest functionality allows anyone in the room with an Android device to access your Chromecast — even if they're not connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Enabling guest mode on the Chromecast app is extremely simple. All you have to do is open up the app on your smartphone or tablet, hit the Devices subheading and select your Chromecast. Then tap on Guest Mode and slide the button to On. That's it. You're good to go. If you'd like see the service in action, hit play on the video below.
