Android 2.3.4 for Nexus One is now available

For those of you that have a Nexus One, you will be getting Android 2.3.4 pushed to your phone soon. Unfortunately this update does not support the new Google video chat because the Nexus One does not have a  front-facing camera.

If you can’t wait for the update to push automatically to your Nexus One, here is how you can get it right now:

  1. Download the update from the source link
  2. Rename the file to update.zip. Note that if you’re using Windows, just rename it to “update” (no quotes, of course) because it’s already a zipped file.
  3. Copy the update.zip file onto your microSD card.
  4. With your Nexus One off, hold down the trackball and press the power button.
  5. You’ll be booted into a white screen with three Android robots on skateboards. Select “Bootloader.”
  6. On the next screen, select “Recovery.”
  7. Your phone will reboot, giving you a picture of the Android robot and an exclamation point inside a triangle.
  8. Now press the power button and volume up button at the same time. It could take a couple of tries.
  9. Now (using the trackball this time) choose “Apply sdcard:update.zip” and let things run their course.

HAving a bit of trouble with this one. Never had trouble manually installing before, but for some reason, I keep getting the message “signature verification failed”. I’m on GRI40 at the mo, and checked my hboot and radio versions, and both of those are fine too. Anyone got any ideas?

My nexus one hasn’t been upgraded to 2.3 (it’s still 2.2). Will this update install fine? I am new to the android world, any pointers would be helpful.

@ Bharath you should just receive an ota all the way to 2.3.4 would be surprised if you haven’t already had it by the time you read this tbh

My HTC Google nexus one is still on 2.2. I bought it from Bangaluru, India 10 days back. How & when will I get OTA Update? Or any method to get OTA?
