The First Android Powered Phone, T-Mobile G1 Launched!

The G1 is here. Today marks the official launch day for the first Android powered cellphone - the T-Mobile G1 .

During the past month, weve seen unbridled excitement for the T-Mobile G1 and the positive impact it will have on the mobile lives of our customers, said Denny Marie Post, chief marketing officer, T-Mobile USA. In fact, among those T-Mobile customers who have pre-ordered the phone, roughly half have traded up from a basic handset, illustrating the leap many consumers are taking to a rich, accessible mobile Web experience. Its design, functionality and value make the first-of-its-kind T-Mobile G1 a truly approachable device for the masses.

The G1 device is now available for purchase via the T-Mobile website, and in person at their many T-Mobile stores. Priced at $179.99 on a 2 year contract, the online store prompts warnings of 'Limited Availability' at every turn, but don't worry should you miss out online - just hit the stores!

It looks like only the black and bronze models are available for purchase online, so if you manage to snag yourself a white model from the T-Mobile store, why not stop by our forums and tease us with it!
