Android phones outselling Windows Phone 7 devices 15 to 1

In the UK, mobile retailer MobilesPlease gave out some data that indicated Windows Phone 7 sales to be down the tubes thus far. The data indicated that WP7 devices are being outsold by Android devices by a ratio of 15:1, and that even Symbian is outselling WP7 by a ratio of 3:1.

The company recognizes that the information may be “anecdotal”, but did say that they contacted other retailers in the area with similar results. While the other stores, such as Car Phone Warehouse, wouldn’t give out the specifics on sales, they were quoted as saying that WP7 devices “are not selling”, and said the high demand still stays for Blackberry, iPhone, and – of course – Android. To make matters worse, Car Phone Warehouse said the devices had become so unpopular that they no longer had any WP7 phones on display, and that they “might have one in the back”.

While the launch of WP7 has only been in swing for a short period of time, you can usually tell how a device or OS line is going to do in the long run by initial numbers. As far as we can tell, the data collected here for the UK mobile market is sending WP7 packing in lieu of a “greener” view.

Maybe when their app store catches up…?

For a phone with the worst looking interface…ever. No surprise.

Is this really a fair comparison? Is TalkAndroid in such desperate need to promote anything-Android as better for the world?
Please give the poor WP7 phones some time to even warm up to the general population before you can make this kind of comparison.
Disclaimer: I love Android and own two handsets loaded with it. But this is just an unfair comparison to WP7 at this point in time.

@JLRivers: I don’t think it’s as much a comparison as a bleak view on where WP7 stands right now.

I think WP7 will really gain some traction thanks to its Microsoft’s strategy and WP7′s integration with Xbox Live, but I do think the home screen is pretty ugly :( .
