Best Moto Z and Moto Z Force cases

Cases have become such an important component of owning almost any smartphone. There are few exceptions, at least as far as the rugged devices go (e.g. the Galaxy S7 Active), but for the most part, you’ll need a case to keep your device safe simply because they’ve gotten so fragile. And that same principle goes for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The Moto Z Force is supposed to have an unbreakable display, but even then, a case can keep the corners and back of your device from getting scuffed up, scratched or even damaged.

With that in mind, we’re going to show you some of our favorite cases for the two devices to hopefully help you find one you like and can rock yourself.

CandyShell GRIP

It goes without saying, phones can be insanely slippery. If you feel your Moto Z and Moto Z Force is that way, the CandyShell GRIP is the perfect option for you. Not only does it keep your phone safe in a military grade protective shell, but it also has ridges along the backside to give you a firm handle on your smartphone. The case, much like many of Speck’s options, has raised edges to keep your display safe from being set face down.

CandyShell Clear

The CandyShell Clear is another neat case for the Moto Z Force and Moto Z. The case is just as what it says it is: a clear case so the premium design of your smartphone is still visible. Similar to the GRIP, it has raised edges to keep your display safe when set face down. And with military-grade protection, your Moto Z and Moto Z Force will be safe from any drops or falls.

Incipio Series Level 4

The Series Level 4 case, available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, offers premium protection through Incipio’s very own quad-layer defense technology. There’s an interior ridge that delivers military grade shock absorption, but also has a scratch-resistant outer shell that keeps your phone safe from frightening drops and falls. There’s a included holster for easy carrying as well.

As far as design goes, it’s a sleek looking, slim-like profile. Bulk is minimal, and it comes in three color combinations: two of a darker nature, and then a hot pink.

Incipio DualPro

The DualPro is one of our favorites from Incipio. It has a sleek looking finish, but keeps your device fully protected with two layers. The inner layer is your standard rubber enclosure. The outside layer is a hard polycarbonate frame, which is the main player that keeps your device safe from those unwanted drops. The two layers work together to provide maximum protection for what has become an insanely expensive device.

And, with five color combinations to choose from, the DualPro is perfect for a number of different styles.

Otterbox Commuter

One of our favorite case manufacturers here at Talk Android, who actually makes a number of different cases for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The Commuter is a very nice case, which offers excellent drop, dust and screen protection by raising the display off the ground through raised edges on the case. It has a much slimmer profile than the Defender, but also does not offer as much protection as the defender.

Otterbox is only offering this case in two different colors–black and a pink-like color that they call Bubblegum Way. At just $35, it’s an easy price to swallow for unmatched protection.

Otterbox Defender

And here we arrive to the last case on our list: the Otterbox Defender. It’s specifically made for the Moto Z Force; there isn’t one available for the Moto Z or even for the Moto Z DROID. I use the Otterbox Defender on all of my phones, particularly after having a disaster of going caseless with a Galaxy S7 Edge. The Ottrbox Defender provides drop, dust, screen and scratch protection, making it the perfect case to take out with you in the outdoors or other harsh environments, such as maybe a construction site.

You can drop or throw this device across concrete or any type of pavement and you won’t see a scratch, dent or broken screen on the phone itself. It really is an impressive case. Now, it’s a tad pricier than most cases at around $50. But, you can seriously look at as phone insurance. Because of how enclosed and safe it keeps your phone through three layers of defensive protection, you won’t ever need to splurge on accidental damage insurance.

Otterbox does not promise water resistance, but since all of your ports are covered (except for maybe the speakers), you can drop this in water without worrying about it damaging your device.

And, for easy carrying, it comes with a belt holster which also doubles as a kickstand. Overall, it’s a neat case and comes in black, Regal and Berries ‘N Cream.

And that wraps up a list of our favorite cases for these two devices. When purchasing a case for either of these devices, it’s important to keep an eye out on product descriptions. Some cases aren’t built for the Moto Z, but instead the Moto Z Force and likewise. There are a few scenarios where a case manufacturer will offer the same, but in two different size options to meet the specifications of either device, so just keep an eye out for the specific details.
