Best nutrition apps for Dieting and Tracking

Dieting and trying to improve your nutrition is a difficult task. Changing your mindset with food and watching how much you’re taking in will never be easy, but it doesn’t have to be that hard. Smartphone apps have made our lives much easier in a myriad of areas, and one of those specifically is fitness and nutrition. Android has a ton of applications geared towards helping you get healthy.

Whether you’re looking for a calorie counter, a food lookup database, a guide to different types of foods, or even something for setting up meal plans, there’s something on this list for you. One thing to keep in mind is that these tools make it more convenient to watch your calories and what you’re eating, but they won’t get you healthy by themselves. You’ve got to put in the work in this new journey if you want to succeed, just like anything.

And without further ado, here are the best nutrition apps for Android:

MyFitnessPal Calorie Counter

My Fitness Pal’s Calorie Counter may just be the leading Calorie Counter app on the market. Not only is the design super appealing to the eye, but it’s also super efficient. With over 6 million foods to choose from, you won’t be left to merely guess how many calories are on your plate. Maybe you’re not sure what kind of diet is right for you? No problem! When you first download the app, My Fitness Pal Calorie Counter will ask you a few questions, and they’ll show you what the best diet is for you!

Health and Nutrition Guide

Healthy Nutrition Guide is perfect for anyone new to dieting. This app will explain things like carbs, fats, proteins, etc, and teach you what amount you’ll need of those each day. The Healthy Nutrition Guide app will help turn your new diet plan into a more effective, healthier lifestyle than ever before, resulting in a healthier, happier you for the long-term!

Food Diary

The Food Diary app will allow you to track your food intake throughout the day. Because this is a journal of sorts for your personal dietary preferences, rather than something that will calculate how many calories YOU need a day, there’s not even any signing up required, which is a huge draw. A couple of the neat features of this app are the fact that it’s offline-accessible, and you can set reminders for yourself that will help you stick with your diet!

The Lifesum app is a favorite among those who want to take active steps to meet their goals. It’s hard to do everything you need to in order to stay as healthy as possible, such as getting enough water, eating the right kinds of foods, being mindful when snacking, etc. That’s what Lifesum is here for. It’s not merely a place to track your caloric intake. Lifesum will not only help you stay on track, but it’ll help you stay excited. Instead of losing motivation because of all you have to keep track of, Lifesum will remind you to drink your water, motivate you when you have doubts, and it’ll even offer feedback on what kinds of foods you eat.

Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker

The Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker app is all your goals, in one spot. Whether you’re wanting to lose weight, build muscle, or simply eat healthier, this app is for you! Instead of just letting you know how many calories you’ve downed today, Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker will even track how many calories you’ve burned, which is a huge motivator to not only eat healthy, but to also stay active! You can even earn achievements—how awesome is that? And if this isn’t enough already, upgrade to Pro for more awesome features.

Nutrition Lookup

Nutrition Lookup is a great app to keep track of what’s in the foods you’re eating. This app is fun to use, allowing you to easily scan the food you purchase at the store, and it will even calculate visuals to streamline the explaining process of how many carbs, proteins, and fats are in the food that you’re eating, helping you decide if that candy bar is really worth it or not.

8fit Workout & Meal Plans

8fit Workout & Meal Plans is a lifesaver. If you’re like me, you’ve probably used the excuse a couple of times that you can’t possibly work out because you’re not near a gym, didn’t bring the right equipment on a trip, etc. 8fit does away with those excuses, because it has plans to help you work out, anywhere. This app will give you a meal plan that fits your exercise routine to accelerate your fat burning and muscle building.

There truly is an application here for everybody. But, you of course can’t use them all. Usually picking one or two is a good idea, as anymore than that makes things way too complicated. However, it can be hard choosing just one. For myself, I’ve chosen MyFitnessPal, as it seems to have the largest database of foods out of almost any other app out there. This allows me to track things much easier than manually entering certain types of foods and all of their nutritional values (e.g. calories, carbs, fats, and so on).

Or, maybe you need something that’s more geared towards planning workouts and meals. In that case, 8fit is the go-to app for that. Not only will it help you plan out your workouts anywhere you are, it’ll also give you a detailed meal plan that matches with your exercise routine. Making sure you’re eating right while on an exercise routine is the key to losing weight, and 8fit helps you with just that.

We, of course, cannot include every good nutritional-based application on the Play Store in this list. So, we’re handing the mic to you, our readers. What nutritional tracker do you use? Do you recommend it? Be sure to let us know why in the comments section below!
