Sony confirms Android Pie update to roll out to these Xperia handsets from November

Fast on the heels of HTC, Nokia, and Motorola confirming which of their handsets will be updated to Android Pie, Sony has officially announced which of its Xperia smartphones will jump on the bandwagon. As you might expect, most of Sony’s heavy-hitters such as the Xperia XZ2 are present, but the update will also roll out to a bunch of mid-range phones as well.

What’s the big deal about this latest and greatest version of Android? Well, Android Pie brings a host of new features and improvements such as more machine learning in the form of Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive Battery that promises to understand how you use the brightness slider as well as prioritizing battery power for your most used apps and services. Quick Settings has been redesigned; there is a new dashboard to show how you’ve spent your time on the device, and Do Not Disturb has also been tweaked.
