The month of May is shaping up to be a busy month with multiple phone launch events as well as Google I/O to look forward to, and it’s just got a little more hectic thanks to LG confirming that it will launch its newest flagship during the same month. The Korean company has confirmed that the G7 ThinQ will indeed launch on May 2nd at an event in New York.
LG will launch the event at Metropolitan West in Manhattan, New York on May 2nd and in Seoul, Korea on the 3rd. As shown in the render above that comes courtesy of AndroidHeadlines, the G7 ThinQ follows the trend of having a notch (but thankfully not two). It will also apparently be available in “Aurora Black,” “Platinum Grey,” “Moroccan Blue,” “Moroccan Blue (Matte),” and “Raspberry Rose.” We expect the base model G7 ThinQ to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Besides announcing the launch date, LG also said that:
“This is the first time the ThinQ brand has been applied to the G series. ThinQ is a brand that reflects LG Electronics’ goal of ‘Thinking in the customer’s standpoint and practicing customer’s attention.”
So, yet another Android manufacturer that is adopting the notch. It’s likely that, as Huawei has with the P20 and P20 Pro, LG will provide a way of hiding the notch via a setting for those of us with reservations about this trendy new feature.
What are you hoping to see from the LG G7 ThinQ?
