A couple years ago dual camera systems were the next big thing on the horizon for smartphones. They’re still not ubiquitous, but they’re more common than ever and they aren’t just exclusive to flagship devices. So what’s the next logical step? Well, if you’re Huawei, it’s a triple camera setup.
The P20 Pro has leaked, which is set to be announced alongside the P20 and P20 Lite, and the focus is very clearly on photography. It sports a 40-megapixel camera, plus a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and 8-megapixel telephoto sensor, covering absolutely every situation where you’d want to use a smartphone for photography. It will reportedly be able to utilize a 5x optical zoom when using the 40-megapixel sensor and 8-megapixel sensor simultaneously, which is very impressive for a smartphone.
Other hardware is solid, if a little boring. There’s a 6.1-inch notched display, Huawei’s own Kirin 970 CPU, 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage, a 4000mAh battery, and IP67 waterproofing. Nothing to complain about, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before, either.
Whenever this thing becomes official, you can be we’re very interested in some camera samples.
