OnePlus 5T launch event scheduled for Thursday, November 16th

OnePlus has announced details about the date and time for their launch event for the OnePlus 5T. The event will take place on Thursday, November 16th in New York City starting at 11:00 a.m. In an interesting twist, OnePlus is selling tickets for $40 to people who are interested in attending and the link for ticket sales has gone live. Buying a ticket gets you reserved seating, a swag bag, snacks, drinks, some hands-on time with the new OnePlus 5T and the opportunity to be around and perhaps interact with Pete Lau, Carl Pei and other members of the OnePlus team.

In case you are thinking OnePlus is being a bit crass in charging admission to a launch event, they do point out a some practical considerations for doing so. One of those is the fact that the venue can only hold so many people and by selling tickets they can make sure they don’t leave people standing in the street. OnePlus also says this will give them an accurate head count so they can properly plan for things like swag needed or how much food to have on hand.

With regard to the ticket fee, OnePlus says they will donate the proceeds to the non-profit F-Droid. F-Droid is a catalog of free and open source applications for the Android platform. The F-Droid application function like an app store enabling users browse, install and track updates on their device.

OnePlus notes in their information for the event that tickets are not transferrable, non-refundable and will not be available at the door. There is a limit of two tickets per purchase. The event will be held at the Villain venue in Brooklyn if you are interested and in the area. To purchase tickets, hit the source link below.

The OnePlus 5T is expected to take the current flagship OnePlus 5 and stretch the display size to 6 inches while also incorporating a bezel-less design. This means another change will be moving the fingerprint sensor to the back of the device. Even with the bigger size, there are rumors that the price will hold at current OnePlus 5 levels.
