Factory images with September’s Security Patch now available for Pixel and Nexus devices

Google has confirmed that it will indeed be launching the Pixel 2 on October 4, and we at TalkAndroid can hardly wait. In the meantime, if you own a Pixel or eligible Nexus device running Android 8.0 Oreo, you know what time of the month this is, it’s when you get the latest Security Patch on your handset as well as any other firmware tweaks. While security patches aren’t usually terribly exciting, the September update has the added bonus of fixing the BlueBorne flaw that affects a couple of billion Android devices.

Factory images are available for any Nexus or Pixel device that is compatible with Android 8.0 Oreo. So if you own a Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, or a Pixel C tablet, the factory images or the latest OTA’s are available to download directly from Google. If you are patient, the OTA will arrive in the very near future on your eligible handset, but, who really wants to wait?

If you own a Nexus 6 or 9, don’t worry, you haven’t been left completely in the cold, the September security patch is also available for your devices to patch the Bluetooth vulnerability, among other things.

So, what are you waiting for? You don’t want to stay on the August security patch, do you?
