Google Assistant launches on iOS today

At Google I/O 2017 today, Google announced that they were bringing their virtual assistant to as many devices as possible thanks to the Google Assistant SDK. Going one step further, they also announced that they were bringing the powerful artificial intelligence app to Apple’s ecosystem, too. Watch out, Siri.

Starting today, Google Assistant is officially available in Apple’s App Store for iPhones. It’s not a hacky solution, either, so you won’t need to go in through the Google Search app or Allo.

It is still limited by Apple’s restrictive app guidelines, so don’t expect to be able to launch Assistant from the lock screen by talking to it, but for anyone looking to keep their iPhone looped in with their Google and Android ecosystems, this is a very welcome addition.
