Try Allo yet? Over 1 million people already have

Despite the many poor reviews coming in, Google’s Allo has generated over 1 million installs on Android devices in less than a week.

As the Play Store does not provide specific numbers to everyone, we merely know Allo has between 1,000,000-5,000,000 installs on the Android side.

The smart messaging platform, which started rolling out around the world on September 21, had a lot of hype behind it prior the public release. People were expecting a Google-made iMessage competitor on their devices; however, Allo has largely disappointed. Most people are saying Allo feels like a cheap knockoff of its competitors. There are even people saying Hangouts, the company’s go-to messaging platform for years, is far better than Allo as it handles both instant messages and SMS.

Before the weekend, Allo even reached the top of the charts on Google Play. It has since, coincidentally, moved behind Facebook Messenger and Facebook as the world’s most popular Android apps.

Once Google adds SMS support, Allo will surely be a serious player in messaging.
