Google’s Pixel XL is Marlin, will have a 12-megapixel camera with Sony sensor

After finding out the next Nexus devices will actually be Pixel devices, we’re all itching to learn more about what Google has planned. While we’re still about a month out before an actual unveiling, the rumor mill certainly won’t let up until absolutely everything possible is leaked about the phones.

The next biggest rumor comes from LlabTooFeR on Twitter who is infamous for nailing HTC leaks. He noted that this year’s HTC Nexus M1 will be the Marlin, which will be the Pixel XL. It will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX378 sensor, and an 8-megapixel front camera with an IMX179 sensor. LlabTooFeR says the same camera setup will be in Sailfish, otherwise known as Pixel.

Marlin has passed through the FCC and has already been benchmarked, so at this point all we’re waiting for is Google’s official October 4th announcement. It can’t get here soon enough.

What are your thoughts on the new Nexus/Pixel phone revelations? Good move or bad move for Google?

This could be my first “Nexus”. Only thing i am worried about is not having microsd, so used to having virtually unlimited space these past few years with various Androids. But i think i can adapt / manage with a 64gb model. Also looking forward to Daydream tbh.

I have been using Samsung for ages now, and was looking forward to the Note 7. However, I have always been open to other phones. I am keeping a close eye on the XL, this may be my next phone it it comes in with all the important aspects I am looking for at a great value.
