Honor 8 officially launches in Europe

Huawei’s subsidiary company, Honor, today announced expanded availability for its new flagship device, the Honor 8, at an event in Paris. The company already announced the handset for the US, but now it’s available in Europe.

The smartphone is fragile, as Honor chose to encase it in glass similar to many of Samsung’s high-end offerings. It gives it a sleek finish and premium feel in the hand. Honor says the glass fits seamlessly into a diamond-cut metal frame, which acts as a protective layer against inevitable and occasional drops.

You can find the handset’s full specs below.

One of the highlights of the Honor 8 is its camera setup. Around the back, you get a dual-camera setup, with each camera sporting a 12-megapixel sensor. Honor says one is a RGB sensor to capture colors and the other a monochrome sensor to capture detail. The latter sensor is actually able to capture three times the light than what would normally be possible, creating beautiful pictures.

Thanks to the dual-camera setup, the Honor 8 actually has a wide range of functions and filters. You’ll find functions like Panorama, Slow-Mo, Light Painting, Beauty Mode, Food Mode, HDR, Super Night, Water Mark and a whole host of other options.

The Honor 8 is available all across Europe as of today through Honor’s vMall store for £367. It’s available in Pearl White, Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. Online UK retailers Clove, EBuyer and Expansys will stock the device within the next few weeks. If you’re looking to pick up the Honor 8 on contract, in the UK, that will be an exclusive to Three.
