It’s official: Android N is Android Nougat

It isn’t exactly breaking news, but something that many of us have wondered since Google I/O has been which dessert Android N would be named after. There aren’t too many options with the letter ‘N’ unless you get really convoluted, so Nutella was an option thrown around for a while, which made sense if you remembered Google’s partnership with Nestle for Android 4.4 KitKat. As it turns out, the N stands for Nougat.

After I/O 2016, Android fans were invited to submit their guesses on what the N would stand for, I wonder how many guesses were entered, and how of those were correct? Now, the only real question that remains is what number Android Nougat will hold, will it bump up to Android 7.0, or will it be a smaller jump to perhaps 6.5? It’s anyone’s guess at the moment, but at least we now know what the N stands for.

Did you guess correctly? I know I didn’t, I was in favour of it being my favourite dessert, New York Cheesecake, but I readily admit that it a little long-winded, despite it being the internal code-name for Android N. Let us know what you thought it would be in the comments below.
