Intel fans have been patiently waiting for the first Intel-powered smartphone and it looks like the wait might be over. Intel CEO Paul Otellini revealed that the first phone would ship this week. Unfortunately he didn’t tell us the phone, but I think it’s safe to say that it won’t be Motorola-branded. It’s mostly likely going to be the Lenovo K800, but it could also be the Orange Santa Clara or possibly the Lava Xolo X900. All of these phones will run the new 1.6 GHz Atom Z2460, which is the first chip from Intel’s Medfield platform.
So now that the Intel era for smartphones are finally here do you have any predictions. Will they be able to keep up with the likes of NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments?
