The Jelly Bean 4.1.2 footprint just got a little larger over night. Reports from XDA members began coming in last night that the AT&T Sony Xperia TL is seeing the 4.1.2 upgrade. These upgrades do appear to be coming via PC Companion however, rather than OTA. From the posts, users are reporting a more fluid user interface and a more reliable WiFi connection. These features are of course in addition to all the standard Jelly Bean features such as Google Now and Project Butter. Additionally there are a few camera tweaks included in the update, including an HDR feature, however burst mode was not added. Go grab it if manually downloading your updates via PC Companion are your thing. Otherwise let us know when you see that OTA update or if you can access the update from your About Phone software update option.
Those of you out there who own a variant of the Sony Xperia T smartphone are about to get a taste of some buttery goodness in the near-future. According to the PTCRB website, a new firmware version of 9.1.A.0.489 has been certified for the Xperia T (LT30p) and Xperia TX (LT29i) smartphones— which effectively moves the software up from Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean. Oh and owners of an American variant of the smartphone won’t be left out either— the Xperia TL (LT30at) for AT&T is also getting a new firmware version certified with 9.1.F.1.120, which would also bring the device up to Jelly Bean as well.
So while the new pieces of firmware have been certified, it would still be a matter of weeks before we see the update land on the respective devices. Hopefully the different Xperia T owners out there will be able to contain themselves in the meantime.

A Vietnamese video shows the Sony Xperia TL, currently on Ice Cream Sandwich, running Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. The video also shows a new lock screen, updated launcher, ClearAudio+ mode and an Xperia V-like Superior Auto mode on the 13MP camera. There may still be updates before the final street version but this should give Xperia TL owners a good idea of what’s to come.

Earlier in the month AT&T announced they would release Sony’s Xperia T in time for the holidays as the Xperia TL. They just officially announced that it will be available starting November 2 for $99 on contract. That’s a screaming good deal for a darn good phone. As a reminder, the Xperia TL sports a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720) Reality display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4, 1GB of RAM, a 13MP camera, NFC, LTE, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Today the Sony Xperia T was released in the UK and to commemorate the occasion, Sony released a commercial that resembles a 007 movie. The most exciting part might be at the end when you discover that the phone comes “packed with exclusive Bond content”. This is the second Xperia T commercial Sony has released recently, but this one undoubtedly had a larger budget. Directed by Joe Carnahan, it features a car chase and some explosions that will certainly add to this phone’s high expectations. The phone is only available in the UK right now with a roll out for the rest of Europe not far behind. It will hit the states as the Xperia TL on AT&T soon. Hit the break to watch the commercial.
We had an idea that Sony’s Xperia T would land on AT&T from the leaked image showing the AT&T logo, not to mention it hit the FCC recently. Well AT&T just announced they will carry it as the Xperia TL. It looks like it will be an identical phone sporting a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720) Reality display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4, 1GB of RAM, a 13MP camera, NFC, LTE, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will also include three preloaded Sony media applications, Walkman, Movies, and Album. The Album app compliments the camera and features Geo-mapping in satellite and traditional map views, more than 25 editing options, and an improved layout of photo and video folders.
No word on pricing or availability, but I would expect it to launch by the holidays.
