Well folks, some actual “real” facts have finally surfaced concerning the infamous Motorola X phone. Coming from Motorola’s own Dennis Woodside himself, the device will come out this October and most of it will be built in Fort Worth, Texas. Woodside even gave a slight tease mentioning the device is already in his pocket.

You can expect the device to feature a galore of sensors. One being a sensor that can detect when the device has been taken out of the pocket, and even a sensor that will detect how fast you’re currently traveling if you were to be in a car that way the phone will act differently for safety measures.

Sadly that’s all we know about the device, screen size, processor and everything else is still up in the air. I’m sure more about the device will surface sometime this summer as it will eventually have to pass through the FCC. Stay tuned!

Perhaps we shouldn’t think that the mysterious “X” phone by Motorola we’ve been hearing more and more about lately is just limited to one model after all. If you recall, we casually mentioned the possibility of Google introducing the “X” phone as potentially a new line of smartphones– not just one smartphone. Well, it appears that particular rumor may hold up more weight than we thought before. According to an anonymous tipster, at least two versions of the Motorola X are being developed behind closed doors: a main “X” phone and an “M” model— similar to the DROID RAZR M variant from the DROID RAZR line of smartphones. Specs-wise, the main phone will feature a 4.8-inch HD display, 2 GB of RAM and feature Android 4.2.2 (as of now).

Rumor: Upcoming Motorola “X” is not just one phone, but a new line of devices

You know about that mysterious Motorola X smartphone that we’ve been hearing more and more about? Well it’s possible that it’s a codename for not one smartphone, but rather the first of many smartphones. Rumor has it that Google is considering looking at other manufacturers line and introducing an X line of smartphones— kind of Samsung’s Galaxy or LG’s Optimus lines. Not only does this unify Motorola’s product line, but it also guarantees more cohesive product support for customers. For example, the first phone in this “X” line “will guarantee at least one “full Android version” update after the purchase of the phone” that is handled directly by Google Motorola, not the mercy of various wireless carriers out there.

Oh and the news doesn’t stop there folks. Rumor also has it that this new “X” phone or line will be sold through “an unnamed online store”— which almost certainly points to the fact it will be sold in the Play Store for the masses, which by the way will be sold at a heavily subsidized priced like the Nexus 4 in order to get interest from consumers. And finally— the mysterious device(s) will be completely customizable by allowing the device’s color, RAM and internal storage to be completely configurable.

Again this is pure rumor and speculation, but you can’t help but be giddy at the idea that this is the direction that the Motorola brand is potentially about to take. Maybe that rumored smartphone we saw a few days ago may hold more weight than we’d previously thought….

Motorola X Phone May Allow For Custom Tailored Hardware

While everyone was glued to the Samsung Galaxy S IV announcement the guys over at Android And Me were getting the scoop on the Motorola X Phone. The unnamed source sharing what they termed “insider information” disclosed a few Googlerola nuggets. For starters the X Phone will be a line, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy line, not a single device. The most impressive tidbit was the plan to allow users to order custom tailored devices. This could be anything from the color, to the amount of RAM, to the storage space. This would mirror the way many PCs are sold.

The source agreed June was a likely launch date for the new line of devices and thought an update guarantee was plausible. This would be a guarantee by Motorola that a device would, at the very least, get the next major Android update. Other possible good news is regarding the expectation that Google will continue to subsidize the final price of the phone, as it does with the Nexus 4. The’re no telling how accurate this guy will end up being but I definitely like what he’s saying.

Motorola XT912A smartphone gets leaked, gives indication it’s not the rumored “X” phone… for now at least

Is Google starting to truly exert its influence into upcoming Motorola devices? It sure appears to be the case as a new mystery phone has surfaced for our viewing pleasure. With specs that clearly identify it as a potential high-end phone, the mysterious XT912A features some goodies including a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, 2 gigs of RAM and a solid 2,200mAh battery. Seeing that this device looks like it has a lightly-customized build of Android, it’s no surprise that most folks are expecting the XT912A smartphone to be the rumored “X” phone that we’ve been hearing about more and more lately— but you may want to calm your expectations down a bit, and for good reason. The XT912A seen above seems to feature what is a 4.7-inch 720p display, while the “X” phone is expected to have anything from a 4.7-inch screen to a 5-inch display, but with a full 1080p display.

Regardless of if this is truly the rumored “X” phone or not, it appears that Google is certainly intent on making some noise in the smartphone wars— and for good reason too.

Motorola X phone rumored specs get updated from a supposedly better source

Yesterday’s Motorola X Phone leak seemed crazy. Well at least most of it did. The image of the phone looked ridiculous and the camera specs were insane. Today Ausdroid received some tips from what they believe to be a “well-placed individual.”  This source says that it will be a 5-inch 1080p display, but since Motorola is having troubles sourcing a screen supplier, they move down to 4.7-inches. To me, this is the biggest part of the news. If this is really the case, I don’t see how the phone can be ready for Google I/O. Stepping down in display size changes a lot more than just the display if you know what I mean. Of course, this news could be something that was taking place months ago, and someone could be leaking it as if it’s happening right now.

Google/Motorola “X” Smartphone To Feature Great Battery Life And Kevlar Backing, Reminds Us Of Previous Motorola Phones In The Process

by Roy Alugbue on

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Googlorola’s mysterious “X” smartphone, so it’s fitting that we’ve gotten some new juicy details about the device. According to the wunderguru Sniggly, there are already working models of the upcoming handset somewhere out there in the wild as part of the smartphone’s extensive testing process. It appears that Google is pulling no stops as it is intent on making a phone that features great battery life and is durable— something that most smartphones of today lack, but Motorola clearly emphasizes with its long line of smartphones featuring Kevlar backings and great battery lives. In addition, the phone is rumored to have a screen size around 4.8-inches, a quad-core processor, and a microSD card slot with the possibility that the internal storage is rumored to go up to a 128 GB version. Oh and those of you afraid of this upcoming device having a crummy camera can fear no more as Motorola/Google are expected to feature a much better camera sensor… perhaps even one of those new Sony Exmor sensors that the tech world has been raving about.

We still have a long ways to go before the device is expected to be announced– but boy you just can’t help but get giddy at the expected May 15th announcement date– especially for you Verizon customers.

Rumor: Motorola X phone could debut at Google I/O with Key Lime Pie in tow

by Robert Nazarian on
tagged , ,

Here’s a rumor to get your Friday Happy Hour going. We have already heard about the Motorola X phone and some think it’s a Nexus device, while other reports say that it won’t be. The latest rumor coming out of the Droid Forums is that won’t be a Nexus device, but it will be the first device to feature Key Lime Pie. Furthermore, it will be announced at Google I/O. Now Google generally doesn’t announce non Nexus devices at Google I/O events, but lets not forget that they own Motorola so this isn’t so far-fetched. I have heard from my sources that it won’t be a Nexus device, but it will be a stock Android device so this information does line up.

Mobile Unified Communications Client Coming To Verizon

The lines between office space and personal space are beginning to blur a bit.  Verizon recently announced at CTIA that they’ll be introducing their new Mobile Unified Communications Client (Mobile UC) and will be available initially for the Droid XDroid X2Droid 2Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro

With the Mobile UC client, your personal number and office number are now accessible on one mobile device, and you have the choice of presenting your mobile or business identity when making calls. That way, when you call from your work number, your business identity is shown. And, when receiving a call on your work number, you can be reached directly whether in or out of the office.

Verizon’s breakthrough business tool, Mobile Unified Communications (UC), seamlessly integrates your office wireline number and features and employee’s wireless smartphones into one form of communication.

For those looking to always be in connection with their business whether at home or on the go, nothing would serve better as a solution for giving off the impression you’re in business 24/7.  In addition, with this tool, your office will never be defined to any specific location.  It’s where you want or need it to be.  In addition to the service, Vz offers a Mobile UC docking station for times when you’re not on the go.  When your smartphone is docked all calls placed from it will be re-routed through your own company’s PBX system, subsequently not going against any of your minutes.  The service will run you $7/mo and you can purchase the dock for $125.  $7 bucks a month is chump change in exchange for complete office mobility and to never miss a call again when calls = money.  I’m going to chock this one up on the “why didn’t anyone think of this before?” list.
