ASUS has always been one of the best manufacturers of Android tablets, but they’re also one of the best for updates. Today is no exception as the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 will be the first tablet (non Nexus) to get the Android 4.2 update. The best feature of Android 4.2 is multiple user accounts, which allows each user of your TF300 to keep their own settings, apps, and app data.
The update will take place today in the U.S. via over-the-air followed by other regions throughout the month. The TF300 is one of the most successful tablets for ASUS, so it’s not surprising it would be the first to get this update. ASUS won’t stop there as they plan on updating the Transformer Pad Infinity, MeMo Pad Smart 10″, and MeMo Pad to 4.2 during the 2nd quarter. Hit the break for the full presser.
[Update] We believe this is going to be version Android 4.2.1
Woot! has the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 today for $299. Now it is refurbished, but when you consider the fact that the keyboard dock is included, it’s a really nice deal. The TF300 sports a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) IPS display. It’s also one of the very few devices that has already been upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. If refurbished isn’t your thing, you can grab a new one without the keyboard at Best Buy for $279.99 on Black Friday. This deal ends at midnight tonight or until the supply runs out. Just click on the picture above to get started.
Last month ASUS pushed out an update to their ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 to install Jelly Bean. This left owners of the higher-end ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 feeling a bit left out in the cold. XDA forum member MysticMgcn has come to the rescue in the form of instructions on how to use the TF300’s firmware on the TF700. According to his How-To post on the XDA forums, the only two things not working are changes to screen brightness and changing the DPI, which is set to 160. Screen brightness can be adjusted by using third-party apps, but there currently is no solution for the DPI issue.
MysticMgcn’s How-To includes instructions and files for rooted or unrooted devices, locked or unlocked bootloaders, and stock or custom recoveries. If you have a Transformer Infinity TF700, you may want to head over to the forum thread linked in the source to read up on everything you need to do to get Jelly Bean onto your device. Just remember, you will be responsible for anything that goes wrong with your device if you attempt this.

Sears has a really hot deal on the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300. As you know the tablet alone goes for $399, but Sears will throw in a keyboard dock for Free. That’s a huge savings for those that are looking for a keyboard, and nobody does it better than ASUS with that amazing dock. My understanding is that this is only offered on the Sears website, and isn’t available in stores. Thankfully shipping is free for any orders over $49.
What makes this deal even sweeter is the fact that the TF300 already received the Jelly Bean update. The deal ends this Saturday, September 1st so hit the links below to get your order in. You do need to add both items to your cart in order to get the deal.

After seeing some ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 owners get some Jelly Bean love last week, it now appears owners of the device in the UK are now getting some love too. According to the ASUS Facebook page, owners will be treated to new features and functions, along with improvements to pre-installed apps, new power saving options and global file search. All this means is that yet more Android owners will get to have that smooth and buttery experience… and who doesn’t love that?

Germany and Austria will be the first to see the Asus Transformer Pad TF300TL, the LTE-enabled version of the TF300. We saw the TF300TL pass through the FCC in May and now, according to German site TechFokus, the tablet will be available this month.
The TF300TL will be available for €629 ($774) with the keyboard dock accessory, or €529 ($651) for just the tablet alone. Of course, a carrier service plan will also have to be added. It will be available in the same red, white, and blue color choices as the non-LTE version, with the white one going to carrier O2.
No news on when, or even if, this tablet is coming to other countries. Anyone looking forward to this one?

If you own an ASUS Transformer TF300, you might want to check for an update since one has taken place over the weekend. It’s software version 126.96.36.199 and it’s still based on Android 4.0.3. This is a minor update that brings stability improvements and some sort of enhancements or bug fixes to the camera and WiFi. Most users are reporting a better and smoother experience.
You’re probably going to have to check for this one manually. Hit the Settings / About Tablet / Software Updates and see if you can grab it. Let us know if you received it and if you’ve noticed any particular improvements or fixes.
