This week was a bit slow in regards to big stories, but the rumor mill is in full force in anticipation of Samsung’s event in New York City next week. However, this week Verizon announced it’s getting rid of phone contracts and changing up its data plans, probably to better compete with T-Mobile’s rigorous Uncannier marketing campaign.
Furthermore, Costco is getting ready for the Verizon DROID Turbo 2, Google announced that Nexus devices will begin receiving monthly security updates, Google Fiber is getting ready to shake up San Antonio, and the OnePlus Two has begun selling really well in China. We’re just wrapping up another exciting week at Talk Android! OnePlus announced the OnePlus Two, which has been met with much controversy. Motorola revealed a bunch of new devices and accessories: the Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto G, and a handful of Bluetooth headsets. Despite a successfully funded IndieGoGo campaign, the YotaPhone 2 will not be coming to the United States, and Google has indefinitely delayed the Android M Developer Preview 3.

OnePlus claims the OnePlus Two is “ahead of its time”, sporting features that most devices won’t have until Android M launches. Motorola’s new Moto G was accidentally leaked in a promo video, and the Moto X (3rd Gen), well, we have yet to see much of that ahead of time.

We’re wrapping up yet another week at Talk Android! Summer tends to be really dry for big stories, but we saw some great one this week. This week features an array of awesome events for Android. Its ecosystem is alive and well, and it’s constantly becoming a better mobile operating system with a lot of options for a lot of different personalities.
It’s been a slow, arduous process so far– but Samsung is getting out its Premium Suite update to the UK variant of the Galaxy S III smartphone. In case you’ve forgotten, the update not only brings a whole lot of Jelly Bean goodness, but it brings items like Multi-Window capability and of course– included Contextual Actions such as Page Buddy. The update is available from today, so all of you Galaxy S III owners in the UK who haven’t gotten that coveted update notification yet should head on down to your Settings and Software Updates in order to grab the update immediately.
