While not one of the most groundbreaking devices to be released this year, Samsung’s long-rumored Stratosphere 2 is expected to serve as a relatively decent entry-level handset on Verizon. A couple of images have revealed dummy units for Samsung’s upcoming QWERTY slider officially making their way to retailers across the country, signaling that a launch may not be too far off.
The device is expected to feature a 4-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. As with all new devices released on Verizon, the handset will have access to the carrier’s nearly-completed 4G LTE network, boasting impressive data speeds. Pricing still remains up in the air, but we’re assuming $99 would be the sweet spot for what you’re getting here.
There are still quite a few users out there that prefer a real keyboard on your phones as opposed to a virtual one. After all, there’s a reason manufacturers still release this type of device. Today, courtesy of @evleaks (once again), we’re seeing some pictures leaked which look very much like the Stratosphere 2. It was about this time last year that Version released the original Stratosphere, so the timing seems to be right. As it’s merely a leaked picture, there’s obviously nothing to report as far as specs or pricing but we should see something official very soon. However, based on last year’s version, we can expect modest mid-range specs as this is an important variant in Verizon’s stable.
Our friends at Phone Arena received the latest Verizon roadmap and it shows some interesting stuff. Now we already know about the upcoming HTC phone sporting a 5-inch display and rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, but this roadmap reveals how they will market it. It looks like it will be called the DROID Incredible X as opposed the the HTC One X 5. According to the map, it will launch in November, just about one year after the Rezound. The model number is ADR6435LVW
