It’s been a long time coming, but NVIDIA has finally unveiled its latest addition to its chipset family and “GeForce Experience” by introducing the world to the Tegra 4 processor. As indicated before, the world’s first speedy ARM 15-based quad-core all-in-one chip will feature an astoundingly efficient 28nm process (which happens to match the Snapdragon S4 Pro chip), 72 GPU cores and the ability to handle a 2,560 x 1600 resolution at 120Hz. The neat thing is that we’ll all see the same type of DDR memory and 4 + 1 architecture as found in the Tegra 3 chip, so we can expect to see incredibly responsive and fluid performance in everything from gaming to just the swiping from screen to screen in an efficient manner. Oh and for those of you that care about looking towards the future— the Tegra 4 has full LTE support.

Additionally, NVIDIA also announced its NVIDIA Grid cloud computing tool. NVIDIA Grid allows for any sort of smart devices from TVs to Android devices to run high-quality graphics and games all based off of the cloud. Essentially— users will open the app and through high quality servers that host specialized graphic cores, the same users will be able to play all sorts of high quality apps and games in awesome video and rendering quality thanks to a basic internet connection. This means that users won’t need to worry about having a device with an old built-in graphics unit anymore since it won’t be doing the dirty work of having to render high-quality video— the cores on the NVIDIA Grid servers will do all the dirty work for you.

Samsung Galaxy S IV Unofficially Rendered, Invites The World To Take A Sneak Peek Into The Future

by Roy Alugbue on

As the world patiently awaits for the “Next Big Thing” from Samsung, some ambitious folks took some time to give us an idea of what to possibly expect from Samsung’s next superphone. A recent hands-on video has surfaced which is more or less giving us a teaser of what the Galaxy S IV should bring including a thin profile complimented with an incredible 2GHz quad-core processor, full 1080p AMOLED display, 13MP camera and Android 5.0— aka Key Lime Pie. The real kicker isn’t just what’s inside of the device, it’s the potential accessories that may accompany the device. The hands-on video highlights what looks to be a revolutionary keyboard dock: a “projection laser keyboard dock” that beams a keyboard layout to whatever surface it’s sitting on and can be typed on— as if it was a real keyboard in front of you.

Naturally viewers of the video should take extreme caution: the hands-on video is by no means real or what the Galaxy S IV will look like. All it is really is a sort of wish-list of items that would make it more awesome than other phones out there.

I know you’re all itching to see what all this potential hubbub is about, so be sure to hit past the break to check out the video.

NTT DoCoMo customers in Japan will have a new toy from Panasonic to look forward to in the near-future. According to a newly-surfaced FCC listing, details for a mysterious P-02E has been made available for the world’s eyes to see. According to the listing, the newly unveiled device will have NFC capability, an LTE chip and wait for it— a retractable TV antenna. In addition to the newly highlighted features of the smartphone, there have been previous rumors highlighting the new device will have Jelly Bean on-board, a 5-inch screen capable of a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor.

Of course NTT DoCoMo customers probably won’t need to wait long for this puppy to hit the marketplace from this point, though those of us out here in the States will probably not want to hold our collective breaths anytime soon.

NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 Chip Outed, Looks To Bring Even More Quad-Core Goodness

by Roy Alugbue on

We know that NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chip is one hell of a processor, but what about it’s successor? We already know that NVIDIA plans on bringing in even more speed, but now it appears that we may likely see even more speed that ever before. According to Chinese website Chip Hell, the new Tegra chip will have a 28-nanometer part featuring “4-plus-1″ quad core architecture with a fifth battery saver core that will likely be based off ARM’s Cortex-A15 infrastructure. In addition, the imminent chip will be powered by a brand new 72-core GeForce GPU which should offer 20x the performance of the Tegra 2 and 6x that of the Tegra 3. Adding to this is the fact that the new chip will be capable of handling up to a 2,560 x 1600 resolution display at full 1080p and 4K support.

As exciting as the new chipset is going to be, we can only hope that we see more support for the upcoming chips that we’ve seen in years past. There are no further details for now, though rumor has it that we can possibly see a formal announcement of the new technology as early as CES 2013.

Images Of Sony “Yuga” Prototype Surfaces

by Roy Alugbue on

It’s no secret that Sony has a superphone in the works for 2013, but it appears that we now have an idea of what this device may look like. Thanks to some leaked images from Mobile Review, you can see how the Sony “Yuga” looks in plain view— and she sure is a beauty too. Similar to the Nexus 4 or LG Optimus G smartphones (as well as previous renderings we had seen before), the device is almost entirely coated in a glassy-type material coupled with a sleek black finish. In addition, Mobile Review indicates the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon-based processor— refuting any type of rumor highlighting the device would possibly be powered by a Samsung Exynos processor.

So now that we’re beginning to see more and more information pour out for this impressive device, all that’s needed now is a better idea of when Sony will finally come out and formally show this device to the masses. Considering Sony has a history of unveiling premium devices at certain January trade shows, we suspect that we’ll likely see something then.

Sony Rumored To Have “Yuga” Smartphone In The Works, Would Feature 128GB Of Storage And Samsung Quad-Core Processor

by Roy Alugbue on
tagged , , , , , , ,

We now have some additional Sony news to share with you all. As previously indicated recently, we knew that Sony has at least one major flagship device that is in the works behind the scenes, though we couldn’t quite confirm what the expected specs would be— until now. Thanks to the gang at Phone Arena, we now know that Sony has named a mysterious device the C660X “Yuga”, which will be a 5-incher and be completely surrounded in Dragonglass glass panel (Dragonglass is similar to Corning’s Gorilla Glass). The news doesn’t stop there either— the upcoming device is reported to feature a specialized quad-core processor not from NVIDIA, Qualcomm or Mediatek— but rather the “Yuga” will feature a Samsung Exynos variant processor, which is a shocking departure from the normal processors that are used, but not completely unexpected considering we knew Samsung intends to have its processors all sorts of manufacturers’ smartphones. Additional details about the “Yuga” includes the following:

Samsung Exynos 5 Quad
3 GB
5 inch OLED display FHD
128GB ROM
16 megapixel
3000mAh battery
Water / Dust resistant
IR blaster

What’s unclear though is if this device will be identified as the Xperia 5 (or Xperia 6) or if it will be given some other name. Also, no one seems to know when this device is expected to be released– though we have a hunch we’ll see it in Q3 or Q4 of 2013. Still– we certainly know that Sony has some clear intentions on snagging a big share of the market place— and this device could certainly go a long way with achieving that goal. Stay tuned with Talk Android as we try to get further details of what could be a potentially game-changing device.
