The Interview was the top selling movie in 2014 on Google Play and YouTube

interview_picture1After all of the drama surrounding the release of “The Interview”, it turns out the film did pretty well in Google’s online store. The comedy pulled in about $15 million from Google Play and YouTube, officially making it Google’s best selling movie of 2014. Considering it’s only been out for one week, that’s an impressive number. This number also marks “The Interview” as Sony Pictures’ highest grossing digital film ever.

Since the film only saw a very limited release in theaters (and there were was still plenty of controversy surrounding that) it only brought in about $2.84 at the box office, which is pretty low. For comparison, Seth Rogen’s “This Is The End” made $20.7 million on its opening weekend in theaters.

Google, Sony Release “The Interview” Available For Streaming Today

International threats, hacking scandals, a major production company brought to its knees and a hilarious Dr. Evil Saturday Night Live bit later, these past couple of months have been a wild ride for Sony’s film The Interview. Starring James Franco and Seth Rogan, the premise of the film is centered around two talk show hosts being tasked with assassinating the dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-un.

It is widely believed, even by the FBI, that North Korea is responsible for retaliating against Sony with a massive data breach that exposed many terabytes of confidential information from Sony’s computers to the world. The data released globally ranged from completed films like Annie to medical records of famous celebrities.

Samsung releases new commercial for Galaxy Camera starring James Franco

Samsung has been working hard lately to release some clever commercials detailing their new products’ features, and today its Samsung’s new Galaxy Camera‘s turn to be in the limelight. The commercial was uploaded to Samsung’s Youtube page this morning and stars famous actor James Franco. In it, Mr Franco is cruising around a party and bumps into various scenarios where his Galaxy Camera’s features come in extremely handy. The use cases are actually pretty realistic and I could see why some of you photo buffs might want to pick one of these guys up. Samsung does a good job showing you the great features of the camera, while garnering a chuckle or two while you watch. Check out the video below.
