DROID DNA on Verizon getting update


Verizon is rolling out an update for the DROID DNA device built by HTC that includes a couple security related items. One of the fixes included in the update is a collection of patches addressing OpenSSL security. The other security fix addresses a “device root vulnerability.”

Besides the security issues addressed, Verizon includes improvements to their implementation of Softcard and Miracast functionality. Verizon also threw in some updates for the WiFi connection status indicator and the battery indicator.

Verizon offering HTC Droid DNA for free through new coupon code promotion

To take advantage of the deal, all you need to do is head to Verizon’s website via the source link below, and type in your email address. Verizon will then email you a promo code which you can use to purchase the Droid DNA at no cost from a Verizon store or through their online shop.

In addition, as part of the new Verizon Referral Rewards Program, if you refer a friend to switch to Verizon from another provider, you and your friend will each get a $25 Verizon Wireless Visa Debit card for free.

HTC One Might Be Coming to Verizon Wireless After All


Contrary to previous reports, it looks like there may be reason to believe the HTC One could actually still be heading to Verizon Wireless sometime in the future. HTC sent out a tweet (see below) over the weekend stating that the One wouldn’t be available on the Verizon network and to check out the Droid DNA instead. In a very interesting turn of events, the tweet has been removed.

HTC Sense 5 was debuted in the Taiwanese company’s latest flagship device, the HTC One, and brings a much updated UI. While HTC hinted at a few phones receiving Sense 5, the Droid DNA was left out. Since it’s a fairly new device, the upgrade will happen at some point, but if you can’t wait, a developer by the username newtoroot has you covered. Porting Sense 5 to the Droid DNA has begun and a ROM is available. Verizon Wireless Expands 4G LTE Coverage In Several New York Markets


As Verizon continues its quest to becoming the most imposing largest 4G LTE network in all the land, it continues to expand coverage in many areas and markets of the country. Verizon has announced that it has expanded coverage in 4 New York state markets, which gives even more Verizon customers the opportunity to enjoy topnotch data speeds. The markets slated for enhanced coverage are Poughkeepsie, Binghamton, Greene County and Utica-Rome.

Considering Verizon has a pretty sweet lineup of smartphones including the Galaxy S III and HTC DROID DNA, it’s a pretty sweet time to be a customer in those areas of New York right now.
