Huawei hosting contest to launch the Honor 6 in Europe

huawei_honor_european_contest_countdown

In six days, Huawei will be launching a new handset in Europe. The Honor 6 is set to arrive next week in select countries allegedly including the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Huawei is holding everyone over by hosting a contest in which fifty Honor 6′s are being given away. The only thing necessary is an email and then Huawei will contact winners. To increase your chances of winning, refer some friends and have them participate as it nets another entry.

Folks in the United States, we have no word on the Honor 6′s status at this time. So just keep your fingers crossed for now.

Huawei Honor with Ice Cream Sandwich to arrive by Valentine’s Day on China Unicom

The Huawei Honor is a really nice mid-level phone available on China Unicom. It’s going to get that much better because Huawei and China Unicom just announced the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Honor will be available by Valentine’s Day. Kudos to Huawei for getting this done faster than the likes of Motorola, HTC, and Samsung. I guess this can’t be a surprise since we wrote about the ICS demo build a little over a month ago. To refresh your memory, the specs of the Honor include:

  • 4-inch (854 x 480) display
  • 1.4GHz single-core processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 4GB of ROM
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 2MP front-facing camera
  • microSD for up to an additional 32GB of storage
  • 1900mAh battery.

Info Leaks on Huawei Honor to Pique Interest

Typically, when one is considering an Android handset (or any handset, for that matter), he or she is going to be looking at the bigger manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, or LG. Now a lot of that is due to word of mouth and brand recognition, but part of it is device quality as well. (I’m looking at you, Kyocera Zio.) Here however, we see a rather impressive leak for a relatively little known manufacturer. Specs in the picture above boast a 1.4GHz processor, a 4 inch display, a 5 megapixel camera complete with 720P video recording, Android 2.3, and  a whopping 1930mAh battery. They’ve also managed to throw all of this into a svelte 9.9 mm thin housing. No word yet on where this phone will be released, but it’ll be a nice addition to someone’s lineup regardless.
