I’m sure you’ve all heard about the hot new Hummingbird processor that the Galaxy S line of phones will be sporting when it hits the street. Heck, we’ve talked about it here. So, just how great is it? Well, a new video sends it head-to-head with the HTC Desire, running the same Snapdragon processor as the Evo and the Incredible. Both are marked at 1GHz, but the Hummingbird also sports some extra graphics processing power that can make a real difference.
Hit the video below and see for yourself. Personally, I think that Galaxy S line looks awesome, and this certainly makes me even more excited for the capability of the device to handle some pretty decent games.
Bell Canada has officially announced that it, too will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S, slated to be named “Vibrant”, in the coming months. If this device (considering it holds the same moniker as T-Mobile’s version) is similar to others, we can be expecting the standard specs: Android 2.1, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5MP camera, 4″ super AMOLED display, etc.
Stay tuned for a release date, as the official page doesn’t tell us much.
It looks like Verizon is joining the Galaxy S party, and bringing along their own version, set to be slated as the “Samsung Fascinate”. Nothing new here from previous specs… 1GHz hummingbird processor, 5MP camera, 720p video, 4″ Super AMOLED, etc. We have yet to hear on availability and pricing, but stick with us, and we’ll let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, you can read the official press release here.

Not bad… not bad at all. Personally, this writer is excited to see the types of phones that Sprint is bringing to the 4G crowd, and if they continue to release phones of this caliber, you can believe they’ll have a customer for life.
What do you think? Is Sprint hitting the right notes with this new 4G phone? Let us know your opinions in the comments!
It looks like T-Mobile USA has joined the slew of wirelessproviders getting Samsung’s new Galaxy S, touting their version as the T959, aka – the Vibrant. This gem of a phone will come with Android 2.1, a 5MP camera, 1GHz processor, 4″ Super AMOLED screen, and will be preloaded with lots of goodies: GoGo in-flight internet support, Amazon Kindle, Sims 3, HD camcorder and Avatar built in. It will also include FM radio, bluetooth 3.0 digital compass and WiFi b/n.
This news is coming hot on the heels of the announcement that the Galaxy S has recently been rooted, which makes it that much more exciting. The phone should be officially announced on July 21st.
What you’re looking at above should be the top Android phone available from AT&T once it launches “in the coming months” aka this summer. The Captivate is basically a Galaxy S with a different outward appearance. The Captivate will have a 4in Super AMOLED display, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5MP camera, 720p video recording, up to 32GB of internal storage when combined with the appropriate microSD card and will launch with Android 2.1 covered with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 UI. No pricing or availablity are yet available.
We know that Samsung likes to generate a bit of hype with their products, most recently with the new Galaxy S mini-site, so it seems entirely apt that Vodafone are taking advantage and accepting pre-orders for the 16GB Galaxy S – exclusive to Vodafone in the UK.
As per the HTC Wildfire news posted yesterday, Vodafone are promising June 15th deliveries on pre-orders, which is only four days away. In fact, three eager customers seem to have developed the ability to time-travel, and have posted 5-star reviews already.
The 16GB version, exclusive to Vodafone in the UK, boasts a rather stunning 4″ WVGA (480 x 800) Super AMOLED screen, 1GHz processor, 5MP camera, 720p playback and multi-touch zoom. It would seem the only thing missing is a camera flash to be honest, and early indications seem to suggest this is one Android phone to keep an eye on.
If this is the phone you are destined to be partnered with, Vodafone would like you to part with £35 a month for 24 months to obtain the Galaxy S 16GB for free. The basic £25 a month a month for 24 month package, incurs a £200 price tag to buy the phone. Ouch.
Can’t wait for the Samsung Galaxy S? Take a gander at the teaser website that Samsung has up. It’s got the phone in what looks to be actual size running a flash animation of a skydiver. (I figured I should tell you what the animation is of in case you’re going to view the site on an iDevice)
Anyway, the site has a nice little marketing blurb as well:
“The new Galaxy S comes with the world’s first and only four inch definition Super AMOLED screen for one of the brightest, clearest pictures of any Smartphone. It’s like high def in your hand. It also features impressive battery life and one of the fastest processors on the market. The Galaxy S runs on the Android Operating System. We think it’s the best Android based phone you can buy. Compare for yourself. Until now there were smart phones. Welcome to brilliant”
Brilliant eh? It’ll be interesting once people start getting hands-on with the device to see how brilliant it is. In the mean time, watch the official video:
