Samsung is ready to unveil their new line of tablet devices tomorrow at an event in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The Galaxy Tab S tablets will come equipped with 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED displays which should really raise the bar for a tablet device. To help protect the fancy new screens, buyers may be interested in Samsung’s official flip covers for the new tablets. The new covers utilize some proprietary connectors embedded in the back panels of the new tablets. It appears that at least initially the covers will come in a choice of two colors, a shade of white and another dark gray in color. The design appears to carry over the dimpled, band-aid look of Samsung’s recent device covers although it is more subtle.
Hit the break and check out a gallery of some images of the new flip covers obtained by SamMobile.
For many people, a smartphone is only as good as its accessories. If you fall into that category and were wondering what’s going to be available for the OnePlus One, you can finally get a sneak peek at what’s going to be available for the budget-priced flagship device later this year.
This evening, @evleaks has given us another look at The All New HTC One’s flip cover that leaked earlier today. In the previous leak, the flip cover was black; however, this time around we have navy blue, red, and green as additional color options. And, like before, this leak shows the time and weather being displayed.
We won’t have to wait too long as The All New HTC One is going to be unveiled on March 25 in New York City.
Here is a rather large leak for a Saturday afternoon. Courtesy of @evleaks, you are looking at a The All New HTC One’s very own flip cover. What is very interesting about this one is that the flip cover utilizes the holes in it to light and display information. So, for example, the time and weather can be displayed. And I think it is safe to assume that it can do plenty of other things like text and email notifications. It is very unique when compared to Samsung’s as this one does not require a cutout to see a portion of the screen when information needs to be displayed.
The other end of this leak involves the device having a Google Play Edition. Just like the HTC One, @evleaks says to “look for M8 to arrive as a Google Play Edition.” When will it arrive in the Play Store as a GPE device? I would say a few months after launch. So it is likely by summer we will have The All New HTC One in the Play Store as a Google Play Edition device.
Over on XDA, there are people reporting that their Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is not working with third-party accessories. Back in October, we heard that Samsung may be implementing a system to block third-party accessories without their certification. The reports are coming from devices running Android 4.4 KitKat, meaning that Samsung may have activated the system with the update.
The first accessory that falls victim to this seems to be Spigen’s S-View Flip Cover. This leaves owners of the accessory without a way to use it properly and thus making them feel their money has been wasted. Spigen is currently working on a Slim Armor View case; however, its production may be halted until they sort things out with Samsung. So for the moment, avoid buying third-party accessories for Samsung devices.
If you’re the owner of a shiny new Galaxy S III or Galaxy Note II, you’ll be enthralled to know that Christmas isn’t over just yet. Samsung Mobile USA is holding a generous giveaway on its Facebook page, offering up a free bag of goodies for those owners who register their device. Included is an official pink, blue, orange, or guacamole-colored Flip Cover, as well as six individually programmable NFC TecTiles.
Samsung will also throw in a 50 percent off coupon code for your choice of accessory purchased through the company’s official online mobile store. Ole’ Sammy isn’t discriminating either; those who don’t own a Galaxy S III or Galaxy Note II can still register and receive the same 50 percent off coupon to use online. Be sure to hit the source link below to get in on the action.
Update: The offer appears to be over as of 10:00AM EST.
