Are you the proud owner of the DROID RAZR or RAZR MAXX? Did you update to Android 4.1.2 when it became available earlier in the month? Is it working perfectly? Well if that’s the case, you’re one of the lucky ones. It appears that a growing group of people are having issues with the Jelly Bean update. A tipster told Phone Arena that Verizon has received numerous complaints on the matter. People are having issues with dropped phone calls, widgets not updating, and apps not working at all.

While the hope is that Big Red will hopefully push an update out soon to fix these issues, they aren’t commenting. We’ll keep you up to speed as the story develops. What about you readers out there that own either of these phones? Are you having issues with Android 4.1.2? Let us know in the comments below.

Some of our readers have been reporting that Motorola is sending out emails to select members of the Motorola Feedback Network to try Jelly Bean for the DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX. An excerpt from that email is posted below.

Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon to participate in an early preview of a new Jelly Bean software release, and provide feedback.  If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR MAXX on Verizon, please excuse and ignore this email.

This leads us to believe that a Jelly Bean update for the DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX is just around the corner, and with everyone looking for all the new features the latest Android OS has to offer, it couldn’t be happening at a better time.

Motorola reorganizes its device update page, promises Jelly Bean for Droid RAZR in Q1

by Jared Peters on

We’ve seen Motorola release some time frames for updates to its device before, but more often than not, they’ve failed to keep those promises. Motorola’s Punit Soni did promise to make some changes to that behavior recently, and I think we’re starting to see some results from that.

Motorola has redone their device update page, which now allows you to sort out your device by country, carrier, and device. Once you’ve found your device, you can easily when it’s slated to receive an update, and when the last update was rolled out. Pretty handy, and significantly better than the huge page of cluttered information that it used to be. You can also sign up for emails to be notified when your device is set to receive an update.

And good news for Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX owners, the new update page firmly states that both devices are set to receive Jelly Bean in Q1. We’re coming to the end of Q1, so you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer on the update, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as it becomes available.

Root Achieved For Jelly Bean OTA For Droid RAZR And RAZR MAXX

by Rudy Rivapalacio on
tagged , , ,

The original Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX received an over-the-air Jelly Bean update (Android 4.1.2) a few weeks ago. It took that long for an exploit to be found in the OTA allowing for root access for both devices. At this point, it looks like all you’ll need is a PC and a USB cable. Hit the source for the walk-through.  Have fun and don’t forget to backup! Once you’re rooted you can even give Carbon Backup a try.

Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX now receiving OTA update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

by Colton Kaiser on
tagged , , , ,

Never before have we seen such a glorious Christmas present from Verizon, but it appears as though the original Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX are now receiving an over-the-air update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. A large number of users are reporting that the update is quite hefty, though we still have yet to hear anything official from Verizon.

It seems the update is rolling out in stages, so if you aren’t prompted right away, it shouldn’t be too much longer. Alternatively, you can manually check for the update by heading into Settings > About Phone > System Updates. Be sure to let us know if you’ve managed to snag the update in the comments below.

by Jared Peters on

As the big day gets closer, we’ve started covering more and more Black Friday deals. And today we’ve got more deals for those of you on Verizon or looking to make the switch to Verizon this year. Their Black Friday ad lists a unique cranberry colored Droid RAZR (not the RAZR HD) for free on a two-year contract. This is pretty similar to last year’s red Incredible 2 Black Friday offering. Not a bad deal if you want something to stand out and don’t need the latest, greatest tech. » Read the rest

So These Must Be The Stars Of Motorola’s Show Today: Say Hello To The DROID RAZR M And DROID RAZR HD Smartphones

by Roy Alugbue on
tagged , , , , , ,

We don’t need to live in suspense anymore gang. After anticipating what was thought to be a breakthrough device with a certain edge-to-edge screen at the upcoming even, we now know what Motorola has concocted for consuming pleasure: the DROID RAZR M and DROID RAZR HD smartphones. The DROID RAZR M smartphone is confirmed to only have a qHD display, while the DROID RAZR HD will almost certainly have a larger screen (along with ColorBoost technology, perhaps?).

So now that the cat is out of the bag, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we know the complete details of each device headed to Verizon stores.
