With Android, there is never a shortage of phones, but only a handful can be considered for the best of the year. It’s never an easy pick, but that isn’t a bad thing because it means Android fans have choice. Last year, each of us here at Talk Android made our picks for 2012, so we decided to do it again for 2013. Will we all agree, or will each of us pick something completely different? I was actually surprised at the result. Hit the break to find out what each of us picked.
I think we can all agree that mobile isn’t the focal point for the Consumer Electronics Show since it deals with all consumer electronics. Even so, there was still a lot of cool stuff announced, and the question is what’s the best of the best (for mobile)? We had new devices from Sony, Huawei, and ZTE as well as processors from Samsung, Qualcomm, and NVIDIA, not to mention other hardware like tablets, gaming controllers, gaming systems, and even Google TV.
Before we get into it, I want to thank my entire staff for the hard word this past week, especially our Editor, Roy Alugbue. I was the only one on the show floor and we managed to churn out 45 hands on videos along with a bunch of other announcements and stories. Roy kept the train moving, and our team delivered in a way that we’ve never done before. I am proud of everyone and already looking forward to next year. Now that the show floor is closed, it’s time for each of us to pick the cream of the crop so hit the break to find out.
We already made our picks for best phones and best apps for 2012, and now it’s time for the best game. 2012 finally brought console quality games to Android, but overall, we saw major growth for games that appealed to both casual and hardcore gamers. Although we don’t agree on the best of the best, one thing we can agree on is that we are all looking forward to what 2013 has in store. Hit the break to see the results and let us know your favorites.
Yesterday the TalkAndroid staff picked their best phones for 2012, and now it’s time for apps. Games aren’t included in this one because we will do a separate post for that. The only other stipulation is that the app had to launch in 2012, but there are a couple of minor exceptions as you will see below. Without further adieu hit the break to see the results. Don’t forget to let us know what your picks are in the comments.
One of the best things about being on the Android side of the fence is the sheer number of phones available. Sure it can be confusing at times, but most of us prefer the flexibility that choice offers us. With so many phones, it’s not an easy task picking the best phone for the entire year. It’s nearly impossible to get everyone to agree since everyone is so different. We thought it would be cool to let each member of our incredible staff pick which phone they think is the Mac Daddy for 2012. Hit the break to find out the results and be sure to tell us your choice in the comments.
