Most of us have probably played at least one of the games from the popular Angry Birds franchise developed by Rovio, who has just announced that its Bad Piggies game has reached over 100 million downloads. That’s a pretty big number that includes download figures from Google’s Play Store, Amazon’s Appstore and Apple’s App Store. To celebrate, Rovio has updated the game to version 1.6, the details of which are below.

Rovio has just unleashed the latest installment of its popular spinoff game called Bad Piggies. While the main premise of the game is still to have users try to still those delectable eggs while creating the ultimate machine, the game does include a couple of new goodies that helps keep the gameplay fresh. Among the various items of note are the availablity of 30 new Flight in the Night levels and Road Hog time trials that allows you to try and achieve the completion of a level within a certain time limit. As always, there are the traditional levels available and all sorts of objects from balloons to fans to rockets that allow you to travel in style.
The latest update is available in the Play Store now, so head on down there and grab it today.
Rovio is celebrating the holiday season with a sale this weekend. All HD games are on sale for Android and iOS. All Android titles are just .99 cents in the Google Play Store. The sale ends this Monday, December 17, but why wait? Hit the download links below to get in on the action before it’s too late. Note: Bad Piggies is showing as Free at the time of this post.
The most recent Angry Birds update brings a connection to their recent spinoff, Bad Piggies. What better way to promote the new game than by incorporating it into the game that started it all. This update gives you 15 pig themed levels and 15 Surf ‘n Turf levels. There are also some new power-ups such as Super Seeds, the Almighty Sling King and Birdquake. These are in-app purchases so be prepared to pay before dropping a Birdquake. It will interesting to see if Rovio will also incorporate some Star Wars themed levels in future Angry Birds updates before the release of that game. Use the Play Store link or QR code to download the update.
Rovio is adding to their Angry Birds franchise with the new spin off called Bad Piggies that will give fans of the series a chance to live life through the eyes of the pigs we are so often trying to hit. We knew the game was coming out on September 27th, but we didn’t know what the game would be about. Would the pigs enact some type of revenge on these birds or cook up some new recipes for the bird eggs? This was cleared up a bit with the newly released teaser.
In the teaser, we see the ever so hated pigs rolling and flying around in user designed contraptions to try and get through different levels stealing bird eggs. All of this clever and riveting gameplay is presented in a colorful, two-dimensional sidescrolling view— just like the original Angry Birds series. Without even playing it yet, this game looks like another hit for Rovio and a lot of wasted time for me. You’ll want to see how this game looks instead of reading about it, so hit the break to see the teaser.
We saw a teaser over the weekend for Rovio’s latest creation and they just told us that their new game, “Bad Piggies”, will be available on September 27th on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows 8, and Windows Phone. As far as the premise or game play, we don’t have a lot of information, but we do know that the focal point is the “second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe,” the pigs. We also know that you won’t find a slingshot anywhere in the game and it will be a “totally new and unique gameplay experience.”
Executive Vice President of games at Rovio, Petri Järvilehto, said:
“There’s so much more to these pigs than what is seen in the Angry Birds games, and Bad Piggies is the first glimpse into what’s going on in the imaginative and ingenious minds of the pigs.”
Well we still have 3 weeks to go so want to guess how many more teaser trailers we will see? I’m guessing two more teasers and one full trailer.
Full press release after the break:
Rovio, creators of the popular Angry Birds franchise, appear to be getting closer to a spin-off that will let users play on the side of the Bad Piggies. Accounts have been created on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ for the Bad Piggies. On Facebook, they list their mission as “Stealing eggs!!” Could that be a hint as to what the game play may be like? Others seem to think it will be centered on the building of structures to defend against the Angry Birds. Fans of the game may want to hit the source link and follow the Bad Piggies page on Facebook.
It is not too early to start thinking about the Holiday Season and gift ideas. Rovio plans on releasing “Bad Piggies Egg Recipes” which is 96 pages of fuss-free recipes, fun activities, and party moves. These recipes are promised to be top-secret and will “fill your tummy and tickle your brain!”
Expect the hard cover book to start shipping September 10th. Order as many as you need, and consider your holiday shopping done.
