Earlier today Huawei announced the Ascend Mate and the Ascend D2. The Ascend D2 sports a 5-inch 1080p IPS display with 443ppi, Huawei’s K3V2 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 13MP camera, 3,000mAh battery, microSD, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and the latest version of the Emotion UI. Ascend D2 formally announced by Huawei with “dream phone” specs in tow

There’s no better way to make an impact on a market than by offering two high-end, desirable products to shake things up. Huawei’s announced their second elite device today, and the specs on this thing are just about as good as you can squeeze into a phone right now. Underneath the 443 ppi 1080p 5-inch screen, there’s a quad-core processor, a 13 megapixel camera, and a 3,000 mAh battery. It also supposedly charges 25% faster than the flagship standard Galaxy S III, and is built out of an extremely durable aluminum frame that is both splash and shock resistant. Huawei’s chairman wasn’t just blowing smoke when he called this a dream phone. No word on pricing yet, but I’d be surprised if Huawei wanted to limit where this phone was available. Hit the break for the press release, and be sure to check out the rest of our CES coverage.

Huawei Ascend D2 to be shown at CES

Huawei’s Senior Vice President Richard Yu has revealed the company plans to introduce their forthcoming Huawei Ascend D2 Android-powered smartphone at CES 2013. Yu refers to the Ascend D2 as a “dream phone,” probably due to the specifications. The new handset will sport a 5-inch 1080p display, a 1.5GHz quad-core cpu, 2GB of RAM, a 13 mega-pixel camera, 2,900 mAh battery and will be loaded with Android 4.1.1 according to details found on the web site for Chinese certification agency TENAA. Yu expresses some concern in his posting on microblogging site Sina Weibo that the Ascend D2 is too costly and will be seen as a niche phone intended for “super” users.

Based on the specifications that have been revealed thus far, is this a phone in which you would be interested?
