The DROID RAZR is probably the sexiest phone I have ever held. From the kevlar back coating to the thin form factor, its such a treat to hold. A few weeks ago when Motorola announced the RAZR, my jaw dropped when Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said it was going to be 7.1mm. Talk about exceeding expectations. In the picture below (after the break) you can see the DROID RAZR as compared to the DROID X (left) and DROID Bionic (middle).
As you can see, it’s much thinner than the previous DROIDS, but until you hold it in your hand, it’s hard to really appreciate it.
This is probably the best device Motorola has ever released. Unfortunately, Motorola had some bad luck this year with the delay of the DROID Bionic and announcing this beast on the same day that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich were announced. The RAZR is cutting edge on every level, but it’s been overshadowed for obvious reasons.
Motorola has promised Ice Cream Sandwich on the RAZR by early 2012, so if you don’t mind waiting a couple of months for it, then this is the phone for you. I’ve only spent a short time with it, but from what I have seen, it’s unlikely I will change my mind during the full review. Of course, I haven’t touched the Galaxy Nexus yet, but I have always been fond of Motorola’s hardware. I remember the excitement the original DROID gave me, and up to this point, there hasn’t been a phone that matched that. The DROID RAZR has brought that excitement back. Look for my full review in a few days, but for now, checkout the unboxing video:
