Huawei Ascend P6 shows up in Chinese certification with a 6.2mm body

by Jared Peters on

huawei ascend p6

Huawei announced a P series of smartphones at MWC, and we’re starting to see some of those models show up across the globe. The latest model, code named the P6-U06, has recently been certified in China, and the profile shots show an extremely thin device, coming in at just 6.2mm. Aside from dimensions, we know it’s packing a quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a strange 5 megapixel front-facing camera. It also has GSM/WCDMA radios, so it’s definitely going to launch in Asian markets, but there’s no word on if it’ll come to other shores.

Huawei announces departure from U.S. market, then reverses course

by Jeff Causey on

Huawei_Logo

The past two days have been interesting ones for Huawei and their efforts to break into the U.S. market. During a summit with analysts on Tuesday, Huawei’s Executive Vice President Eric Xu made some statements indicating Huawei was going to abandon the U.S. market. At least, that is how many people interpreted his comments. A day later Huawei issued a clarification to explain that Mr. Xu was commenting on growth in other developed countries, especially European markets. Huawei anticipates those markets will be much more important for them than the U.S. market, but they have no intention of abandoning the U.S. market. » Read the rest

Huawei introduces the mid-range A199 smartphone, brings dual-SIM capability and Jelly Bean in a light package

Huawei’s latest mid-range device has officially been outed for the masses. The device— identified as the A199— comes jam-packed with the usual allotment of goodies including a smooth 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2 gigs of RAM, a 720p 5-inch IPS display, 2,150mAh battery and an 8MP camera (plus 1.3MP front-facer for good measure). Best of all— Huawei managed to stuff the pieces into a fairly slim package— as the A199 will arrive in a 8.9mm package weighing at a mere 160g.

One major item to note is the device’s dual-SIM capabilities— which pretty much implies the device won’t make it Stateside… at least anytime soon. We’ll be sure to provide more launch details which will include the pricing and availability as we hear them.

Huawei EDGE flagship smartphone gets outed, flaunts its slim 6.3mm body in the process

by Roy Alugbue on

huawei_edge_leak

Well what do we have here? It’s looking like Huawei has yet another flagship device in the works that looks like it’s going to possibly redefine the brand as we know it. A mysterious EDGE smartphone has been leaked that features a 4.9-inch 1,920 x 1,080 display, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 2,600mAh battery and a 13MP camera. Sure that sounds ho-hum compared to the competition but Huawei has managed to squeeze all those sexy specs into a 6.3mm profile and a sleek aluminum body.

Rumor has it that Huawei expects to release this Android 4.2-powered device sometime in the second half of 2013, but we’ll be sure to provide more deets as we get them.
