Almost everyone wouldn’t mind seeing a nice tablet or smartphone for them under the Christmas tree this year. But, if you’re shopping for the tech enthusiast, they might be looking for something a little more new and exciting, such as a smartwatch. It goes without saying, smartwatches right now are essentially for early adopters. They’re in a weird place right now, and they’re not catching on with the general public as easily as some might like. Despite that, the tech enthusiast in your life would almost definitely appreciate getting one of these this holiday season.

If you’re in the market to buy one as a gift or for yourself, be sure to follow along below as we show you some of the best Android Wear-based smartwatches on the market today.

Huawei Watch

The Huawei Watch is easily the best smartwatch on the market right now. It’s an extremely premium looking smartwatch and for a really cheap price, too. There’s tons of different options and configurations for this smartwatch, too. For the base Huawei Watch, you have options of a Silver Mesh or Black Links. And, if you’re not a fan of those, Huawei has launched a separate line of Huawei Watches aimed at being a little more fashionable. Called the Jewel and Elegant, you can get a smartwatch that looks similar to that of high-end watch brands like TAG Heuer and Ulysse Nardin.

Under the hood, of course, is Android Wear, Google’s watch-based operating system. There’s not a whole lot hear unique to the Huawei Watch here, except for, of course, the Huawei Watch-specific watch faces. Other than that, you’ll get access to all of the standard Android Wear goodies, such as plenty of apps optimized for Android Wear as well as access to hundreds if not thousands of custom watch faces on the Play Store.

Motorola Moto 360

As far as smartwatches go, the Moto 360 is a bit cheaper on the spectrum, but still made with wonderful craftsmanship. There are plenty of pre-built versions of the Moto 360 available from different retailers. For example, the Google Store has a Rose Gold version designed “just for her.” But, if you want to implement some of your own personality into the smartwatch, it’s customizable over on the Moto Maker. And just about everything about it can be customized, too — the bezel, the casing and you’re even given a variety of options for the wristband.

Of course, the Moto 360 comes with plenty of its own well designed watch faces. You also get a built-in fitness tracker as well as a whole 24 hours (or more) of battery life out of it. If you want to impress someone this year, you can’t go wrong with the Moto 360.

Nixon Mission

Looking for something a little tech-y, but want it to be resistant to the elements? You can’t go wrong with Nixon’s new Mission smartwatch. It has a 10-ATM water resistance rating, a shockproof stainless steel case, Corning Gorilla Glass for the display and a 316L grade stainless steel bezel. Suffice to say, the Nixon Mission can take a beating, and it’s meant to.

Much of the software is built around outdoor activities. For example, it can give you real-time snow and surf alerts through the built-in Mission app. Not only that, but you can use the Mission Track app for, well, keeping tack of your activities. It does much more than that, though. You can also view and share statistics and data like wave count, top speed and calories burned. And there’s so many other sport-y things you can do with this watch, too. If you’re looking to buy it for someone that spends a good amount of time outdoors, you can rest assured that the Nixon Mission will be able to take the beating.

TAG Heuer Connected

It goes without saying, the TAG Heuer Connected is an absolutely luxurious smartwatch. It’s currently the only Android Wear-powered smartwatch on the market that screams pure luxury, actually. It’s biggest perk is just how good it looks on your wrist. And for $1500, you want it to look the absolute best. But, it’s also got a lot of neat things happening under the hood. It has a built-in stopwatch, timer and alarm, all of which TAG Heuer refers to as its own “microapps.” Of course, you have access to all of the Android Wear-optimized applications from Google Play, too.

The major thing that this watch has going for it is luxury. That’s what much of TAG Heuer’s brand is all about. And, it really does look nice. The watch faces are made with such extreme detail that it can actually be hard to tell if you’re looking at a screen or actual watch hardware at first glance.

Additionally, TAG Heuer offers a ton of different designs and colors, so there’s something for every style out there. As a huge bonus, after buying the watch and once your two-year warranty ends on the TAG Heuer Connected, owners will be able to upgrade (for a price) to a special edition Carrera only available to TAG Heuer Connected owners. If you’re looking for luxury in an Android Wear smartwatch, at this point, it doesn’t get any better than TAG Heuer.

And, of course, it doesn’t get any better than the Nixon Mission for folks who love the outdoors.
