Activision’s award winning Rigonauts coming to Android in May

American video game publisher Activision played host to its first ever Independent Games Competition last year offering big money to small developers with big ideas. Among the winners was the physics based battle strategy game Rigonauts. Similar to Apparatus, Rigonauts allows you to construct your very own mobile structure that is used to fight off enemy war vehicles while making your way through each level. There are various weapons that can be attached to your “Rigo” such as machine guns, cannons and flame throwers. That, coupled with various creatures and over 30 levels of gameplay will surely provide hours of fun for many gamers looking for something unique and challenging. No official word yet on pricing but we can expect to see it released in the Play Store sometime in May. Check out the video below to see the game in action.

Contest: Win one of twenty-five FREE copies of Volume+ (Updated with Winners)

The folks over at Meltus contacted us and wanted to giveaway 25 free copies of Volume+ to our loyal readers. If you’re not familiar with Volume+, it gives you the ability to boost up your overall volume including your bass/treble and save/load your own custom EQ settings on your Android device. You can also utilize their presets for the best sound possible. Since Volume+ works system wide it will work with Google Music, Pandora, Slacker, and every other music software on your device (that doesn’t have a built in EQ). If you’re into sound quality at all, you’re going to want Volume+.

They have two versions. The paid version ($1.99), which includes 9 presets, the ability to go +8 on the levels, and advanced controls. The free version only has one preset, the ability to go +4 on the levels, and no advanced controls.

[Updated] Galaxy Nexus Owner Beats Windows Phone In Windows Phone Challenge – And Finally Gets a Prize

We all know Android devices are powerful, really powerful. However, Android owners will always encounter resistance and claims from competing platforms such as iOS or RIM to stake a claim of arguing its devices are more effective and powerful than their Android counterparts. Returning to the competition party is the Windows Phone platform. Although wildly unpopular and continuously dwarfed by its competition, the platform has its eyes on taking back the lost marketshare while giving Android specifically a run for its money. Microsoft created an interesting phone competition called the Windows Phone Challenge (also called Smoked By Windows Phone) which essentially tests to see if an Android or iPhone owner’s device is faster than Windows Phone-based devices. A casual challenger decided to go out and test the challenge for fun.
